Help Can you still *228 after rooted

Noob to rooting, got my ascend rooted and so far love it however was having some issues last night with data and text access. Tried the *228 phone update today but tells me it can not complete. Should I un-root then try *228 and then re-root? If I unroot what is the process, ie. should I run titanium backup before and after? Thanks in advance for the help guys/gals.

I'm rooted and on Metro and was able to *228 and update the roaming list last week. Maybe you should try it again?

Thanks, tried it again and went through with no problems....
Although a newb to rooting/android I'm actually fairly tech savy so I thought. The first time I tried it gave me the same recording I was getting last night that if I wanted to make a collect call dial 1 or something similar.
Anywho it worked, now I will see if I can send text as it was not letting me earlier today.

Glad Robb was able to help you with this. For future reference, the *228 won't usually work unless you have 3 bars showing and a good connection. Sometimes if you just go outside it will help.
