Can you switch from the LG Ally to the Droid 2 while still locked into the contract?

I am getting a droid 2 from someone and i want to use it right away but im on a 2 year contract... what do i have to do? or do i have to wait....

just activate it on your line. the contract is you your line, not what phone you are using or even the data package.

on the phone you want to activate (droid 2) dial *228 from the dialer and follow the prompts.

So as soon as i get phone just press *228?
i dont even need to take it to verizon or anything?
Idk how to switch it to my number.

I'm not sure that *228 will work if the If the ESN (phone ID) hasn't already been processed by Verizon. If not just go into your online account, look under Device, choose Activate a Device. It will walk you through activating a new phone under your current number. You will need the ESN (phones ID Number) found under the battery. Or you can call them (customer service), or take it into any Verizon store.

*228 option 3. The Droid is a Verizon-only device, as long as it is not on the "stolen list" then calling that number should do the same thing as the online form.
