Root can you use a card reader to root

Hey guys,
I was wondering instead of mounting the sd card on the phone to copy the files if you can just take the sd card out and move the files over by card reader. I found out today that my girlfriend can't find her charging cord and has been just charging her phone in her car while she drives. I was going to try and root her phone tonight but was curious if this would work or not.

There are always different ways to acquire root. Try it out and post your findings.

You can use the card reader to move the files over, but you'll need to connect the phone to a computer to run the commands.

A mini-usb cable is like $10 at a store. It'd be much easier to buy one of those than trying to figure out some other way.

Thanks for the replies, she called me today telling me she found the charger. I had offered to get her some spare cables when i ordered some for mine phone from monoprice, but of course she had declined.
