Root Can you use the 2.2 OC kernal on the 2.2.1 roms

i am just very confused of the compatibility that i can flash 2.2.1 roms on my 2.2 would not the kernal apply the same way?

No. Only kernels made for your your specific model will work. So if u have a stock 2.2 ,then you can only use 2.2 kernels. Same with phones that have 2.2.1.

Wait,if u have a stock 2.2 phone running a 2.2.1 rom, you CAN use the 2.2 kernel.basically if your phone came with 2.2 then ONLY use the 2.2 kernel. But you CAN flash 2.2.1 roms.

I meant using the custom kernal that comes with asdullahs romzero. That's only for 2,2. Can I flash a 2,2,1 Tom and than flash the 2.2 custom. I know I can use the stock kernal that is why I was curious too know of I have to be stuck waiting for the 2,2,1 kernal to become more. Stable

Question for you, did your phone come with 2.2, or did it come with 2.2.1?
If your phone came with 2.2.1 then No you can not use the 2.2 overclock kernel. When you boot up you will have a black screen though you will hear that everything is working you just will not be able to see it.

And just a FYI the 2.2.1 overclock kernel works perfectly well Use the one that says for anyrom and you can use it with the stock froyo or with the themed roms

we really should come up with a better identifier for the phone besides the 2.2 and the 2.2.1 phones...

techincally the kernel is 2.6.32.9 for lg ms690 2.2/2.2.1, and the stock roms are android 2.2/2.2.1.

If you flash CM7, your kernel is 2.6.32.9 for "ms690 with 2.2.1" and the rom is now 2.3.3

If your phone did not come with 2.2.1, then you would need to use the kernel 2.6.32.9 for "ms690 with 2.2"

Far as I know that is not accurate, you can always upgrade but you are not able to downgrade.

oops... corrected. :D

If your phone came with 2.2, then you would need to use the kernel 2.6.32.9 for "ms690 with 2.2" or "ms690 with 2.2.1". this can always be downgraded back to the 2.2 kernel

If your phone came with 2.2.1 then you are must stick with "ms690 2.2.1" kernels

.. thats better :p

If you are able to flash a 2.2.1 rom on a phone that came stock with 2.2 then you should be able to use newer kernels because the roms come with the newer kernel in the first place which means you are using a kernel built for 2.2.1.
