Cannot boot into clockworkmod recovery

Okay 2.6.35 Siyah-v2.6.12 CheckROM v6. However seems like my original problem, I choose a theme in KitchenPro download/reboot/install but nothing changes from the CheckROM v6 theme. Shouldn't it just change?
"What themes are you trying to flash? Are they just mods to the notification bar? If they are you have to turn these mods on in the jkay app after flashing. If you go to status bar options you can tick themed clock and battery, etc"

Do i have to do that? Because I didn't have to before. I swear, I'm reading and taking my time.

Maybe reinstall JK app?
 
Ok so I followed the Siyah thread, did the clean with Gblitz like it said. So had Siyah and CheckROM done as I should. But now the updates just won't apply. Is there some little trick I'm missing? If I have to start from scratch I have to wait for the bastard phone to charge again. And again I swear I'm not rushing through anything.
 
Have you re-rooted using the "Dummies Guide" before installing Siyah?

you mean actually using Odin rather than flashing through CWM? no I didn't because I assumed it didn't need to be done from what info I was taking in?

Also this doesn't make much sense to me but is it relevant?

A:Delete Clockworkmod folder
Reason:
Previously to make the kitchen flash in older version of CWM5 we need to use a salte hash file that was placed in the Clockworkmod folder, Now with the updated CWM5 the actually problem with CWM5 was fixed by the respective creator!

So now what happens is that all you people have that salted hash file remaining in ur sd card that doesn't allow to flash stuff in the newer better CWM5, thats why when u delete the Folder it stats working coz the salted hash file gets deleted!

Now you may ask why delete the folder, when u can delete the file only!!
LOL answer is simle the Android os never recognizes the file there so when u open myfiles you never find the salted hash file inside the clockworkmod folder! You can use other apps and methods to delete the file but then there is the obvious questions from noobs!!

So Moral the problem is only with that one salted hash file and not ur backup"?

I'm trying to get you back to a known, good start, point.

Unfortunately, I've got to get some sleep as I've been travelling for most of the day.

Yeah you will need to reroot with cfroot using Odin. You can then reflash siyah.

I wouldn't worry about the salted hash thing as the new siyah uses the redpill recovery system which never had the problem.

Sorry just so I can be clear I use Odin and root with Siyah, so what is the re-flash bit ?

Been testing modems again, have we? It must be such a hassle, having to repeatedly trudge down to The Pub With No Signal to gather data. ;)

You can't root directly with Siyah... you have to first flash the CF-Root kernel with Odin to root and gain CWM Recovery. You can then boot to the latter and flash the Siyah .ZIP package.

Ok Slug, thank you so which should I select to use to root with before I flash with the siyah?

edit- Duh stupid think I've figured it out now.
 
Its usually to do with the USB port or lead. So try a different socket and lead if you have one. A reboot of your PC may also help.
 
Right so this is the situation.
Rooted via Odin using - CF-Root-SGS2_XW_OXA_LA4-v5.0-CWM5
Then booted in to cwm to install Siyah.
Now the entire time I've been doing this the phone is on CheckROM v6. I still have to issue with installing themes from KitchenPro. Thoughts gentleman? I know , I know spoon feed the noob.
 
But I have the newest KitchenPro manually updated. I'm trying to keep all my stupidity in one thread so not to contaminate the rest of the boards. Problem still remains with changing themes.
 
Right I seem to have finally figured out how to do everything on my own without goofing.

Now on Neak 1.4.2 with CheckROM v6.

I just have one or two questions about refining my usage.
I have yet to really tell what the battery life is like but I have BetteryBatteryStats installed and I'll check it after my next charge. Perhaps if I post some screens you might help me decipher what it all means.

But in case I got Voltage Control and Juice Defender Ultimate but not a clue what to do.
 
Ok holy heck, some really battery drain issues. Dropped from 99% to 48% while I was asleep! I'm stunned. Everything seemed to be perfect. Please help me figure this out gents I'm loving everything except this serious problem! If there is any other info I may have left out please do let me know.
Any ways to stop apps spontaneously opening and running in the background also?

edit - I used my usb to pull those screen caps over. Went to make breakfast. The battery has risen by 2% since I checked it. No bullshit. What is going on

My first thought is to un-install Juice Defender as this masks problems and can use more battery than it saves. If you need to run a Task Killer, of any sort, then it indicates that there is an underlying problem.

Unfortunately, there are no, one-size-fits-all shortcuts to improving battery life.

However, there are a great many things that you can do, which by themselves do not add up to a huge increase in battery life but, when added together, can, in my case, more than double the time between charges.

EDIT I'd lose Vlingo if you don't use it that often.
