Help Cannot connect my Droid X to WNDR3700

I've posted this question in several forums and no one has answered yet, so I'm hoping there is some Wi-Fi genius here who can help. I have the above-mentioned wireless router and my Droid X just doesn't want to connect. It sees the connection and says it's an "excellent" connection, but it just keeps looping between "Scanning/Connecting/Disconnected". I've followed various other suggestions, yet none work. Anyone here have any experience with the Droid X 2.3.340 and the Netgear router?

Thanks in advance for any and all help, suggestions, etc.

First off, have you checked to make sure that you have the absolutely most current firmware loaded on your router? Netgear lists firmware version 1.0.0.6 as current for their version 2 model of this router and firmware version 1.0.6.98 for version 1 of their hardware.

WNDR3700 Model

Next, what kind of security do you have defined on the router? Given that it's telling you that it's connecting and then disconnected, my first thought is an authentication issue. Did you configure WEP security? WPA security? WPA2 security? Did you match the case of the password when entering it? These access keys (WPA & WPA2) are case sensitive. If WEP security did you enter the hexadecimal key exactly as entered on your router?

For grins have you tried turning off wifi security completely (on the router) and attempting to connect the phone to your WiFi?

First. yes, it checks for new firmware every time I log in to the router and the firmware version is 1.0.6.98NA

Security is WPA-PSK[TKIP]+WPA2-PSK(AES) And am aware of case sensitivity.

And yes, I turned off all security and it shows as Open and Excellent connection, but when I tap Connect, it just dosn't want to connect. And I'm sitting right in front of the router so it's not out of range. On the phone under the SSID it says: Remembered, WPS Available, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK

Thank you for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

P.S. Forgot to mention that I have a laptop in the basement that has no problem connecting to this router.

Since I recall that this router is dual band, do you have Wireless G defined and running on the other radio in the router. If not you might want to try configuring the Wireless G radio with a unique SSID and let the DX attempt to connect to it instead. Some Droid X users have reported issues with Wireless N. If this works then it's likely that you are experiencing similar issues.

On this router, the one I'm trying to connect to is configured for a/g/n, which is the 2.4 Ghz band. The 5 Ghz band is for only a/n and when I try to connect to that one, it says "Out of Range". LOL I'm about ready to junk this router and try a Linksys. But what's really confusing me is that when I turn Wi-Fi on, it shows another Open network and I can't even connect to that. Oh, I couldn't connect my iPhone to this router either.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I really appreciate it.

:(Don't bother to try Linksys. I have the exact same issue you described and have checked the above suggestions also to no avail. Please post if you find an answer!

Thanks for that info. Glad I didn't run out and buy one. I even posted a message on the Netgear site and no one has answered yet. If I do find a cure, I'll be sure to post it here.

Well I have the same problem with my droid1. I upgraded my router too. My droid sees the wifi says connect then disconnects. Cant figure it out. Its a lynksis E2000. Anyone recommend a different router that would work with droid :(

I have no idea why, but the droid x started working on the wifi, although in an intermittent way; sometimes it works fine, other times not. My son has had the same problem with some hotspots, but he is not as dependent on the wifi as I am. So it is still a mystery.

Not sure if your routers are compatible with a third party firmware like Tomato or DD-WRT, but if they are I would suggest flashing to one of those options. You will generally get a much more stable and configurable system.

DD-WRT is supported. Larry, did you try that? I also found this post on the Netgear forum that says it can be solved by changing "Fragmentation and CTS" settings on the phone. That's worth a try, too.

Either way, I'm interested to hear if you solved it because I'm thinking of getting this router myself. The hardware looks pretty sweet. Thanks!

My goodness, I apologize to everyone who posted information and help. I finally contacted Netgear and they replaced the router. I started having problems with my laptop too so figured something was very wrong. They had me do a bunch of stuff and came to that conclusion, so now my Droid X connects beautifully to the WNDR3700.

Thanks again for all the help/suggestions.

No apology needed. Now I feel confident picking up this router. :)

My WNDR3700 has started doing this, the odd thing is, for a month prior to this my htc one s was fine connecting to my home wifi until this weekend when it has got into a connect / disconnect cycle. Strangely laptops do not have this issue and my wife's iPhone seems to be immune as well. She has reported she can see the wifi dropping out, my htc seems more sensitive to this cycling.

I've not got much faith in Netgear kit. I'd replace it but a lot of consumer routers seem to share the same wifi chipsets. This router cost in excess of
