Help Cannot connect on wifi... Galaxy Tab

Hi all, after my GT did this today, I googled and found numerous replies, all saying similar things as on here, but i did not accept that i need to set up a static ip for when home then dhcp when out.
after a few moments thinking about this, I decided that if its the GT trying to use the same dhcp IP its got in "memory", and conflicting with another device on the WLAN.. then I'll just change the range for dhcp in the router :)
Most routers start dhcp at x.x.x.100 ...
So I changed that to start at x.x.x.120
and amazing .. my GT connected to the WLAN 1st try :)

If you dont know how to change this then i suggest get a Geek (LOL) to come by .. or ring your IT/ISP support

I know this is prob a "bug" in the GT until they upgrade to gingerbread (oh i hope they fix this in GB...LOL) and if it does it again i'll be changing the dhcp begin addy again :) (and again .. and again) .. lol

Good luck and enjoy ;)

Hi all,

I have exactely the same problem with my galaxy tab 10v1.
It connected once to my belkin router, but since then it doesn't connect anymore.
I tried the static IP address, but without success.

Desperately seeking for a solution, I wanted to follow the advice in one of the hints mentioned here to "re-root" my device and then deleting the IP list configuration file. But since I got no internet connection, I tried to do it from a PC connection, with "Kies". But here again I did not succeed in installing the reroute software on my device, maybe the software versions of "kies" and the re-roote software is not compatible with the samsung 10v1.
Any suggestions would be well appreciated.

I think I solved the problem by switching the "Wireless Mode" of my router to
Wireless Mode: 54G LRS (instead of 54G auto).
(for most Belkin routers, in your browser type http://192.168.2.1/, go to Wireless Menu, submenu Channel and SID)
For the moment it seems to work fine, keeping fingers crossed.

I don't have internet connection and no WLAN on my Galaxy GT 190015. i've checked in the settings but can't found any solutions

I had wireless connection issues after the Gingerbread update last Friday. I did a factory restore and all is well. This thing flies when it's connection is good.

i am new on this and doesn't know how to execute the things u said. can u give me a step-by-step instruction on how to do this? i believe this is the best solution on the said problem. thanks for your quick response.

i appreciate ur post ,i cant figure out if i need to find "rm" in super manager or if i need to type it in terminal ?

Our cable provider (Cox) tells me (as does our software engineer son) that this is usually caused by a security feature: the cable modem is constantly changing its IP address, and not all low end wireless routers are equipped to deal with this. They recommend simply (HAH!) resetting the router by either powering it down or by going to its address and resetting it. I talked to a Belkin tech rep who said the same thing. Pain in the a_ _, but it's far better than factory reset of SGT. Don't know if this will work for all, but we have to do it at least once a week, & it does work . . . I keep the solution & address as a link in Evernote so its easier to do, & accessible from all 3 phones.

After reading through all these messages and having the same problem myself, I contacted my cable provider (Charter) and found out the password I was using was from an old router which was replaced a month ago by Charter. The rep told me what the new password should be and sure enough IT WORKS!

Suggest you all check with your internet provider to insure you are using the correct password.

Good luck!

Guys,

I think i solved the mystery. At least for my set up (using a linksys WAG320N).

I tried all the proposals listed here (static ip, application etc etc), and in some cases it worked fine, but was disconnecting some times; was not steady.

In parallel, i was a bit annoyed from the fact that had to have a static ip configuration, and change it when going elsewhere etc etc; was a pain in general. So I tried several different configurations, and finally got it.

The problem is the N standard of WiFi. Our litte toy Galaxy Tab is not cooperating correctly with it. So I did the following:

Step 1: downgraded my set up in my router to G standard. (In my router you can choose if you want it to work on all standards b/g/n etc, but you can also choose a specific one. So i chose something in random, making sure that it should nevel play on the N standard which is the objective. I chose G.

...

I just got a new Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the above (switching my router to 802.11g from 802.11b/g/n) made it work. I got a Thompson router (standard Telecom router in NZ)

i have a TP-Link router.... i've tried it several times but nothing happens... hope this problem could and soon... thanks for the inputs sir...

Take care. TP-Link router has some kind of problems with MAC address changer and filter. It can not handle MAC address changes. I bought one and it could not handle these issues. These are true specially in cases where an internet connection is MAC bounded. AH

A was surprise that last night my Galaxy Tab doesn't connect to wifi... while my Galaxy S is connected... I didn't remove anything from my Tab but all it appears is "Obtaining IP address but it doesn't connect...:(

need your help... thanks...

Rebooting your router should fix the problem. If not, reboot the tab as well. I sometimes have this problem as well. I believe the tab or the router has trouble with the ip addresses.

I am having the opposite problem as you all... I connect to all of my home routers just fine, but cannot connect to open wifi networks away from home. Strangely, I am having the same problem with my Droid Incredible too, as well as my VZW Galaxy Tab 7.

I challenge anyone to top this! I have two Galaxy tabs which both ceased to operate WIFI at APPROXIMATELY the SAME TIME after two months with no problems until increasingly recently finally to enter the now famous ip loop. So it must be the Galaxy! I have reset, rebooted, rooted static ip'd, deleted dchp_list and reinstated it not all at the same time and not on both - so it must be the modem /router!, nope I just got a new router! nope so not that so I now have a new router, two galaxies in different states left overnight in frustration:confused: got up this morning turned them on and they both logged in so its not the galaxies, its not the router so it must be Android....... but I now have a Motorolla xoom no problemo so it must be the Galaxy or is it .
For crying out loud someone somewhere must know what is going on aaaaaaargh:):confused::(

Hello guys..... for few days i also facing same problem & i just found the solution for that.......go to application/setting/wifi net/wifi.....your tab will scan back the available wifi net.....instead of it connect automatically...you just tab for few second on your wifi net that you chosen.....then it will appear the box....you just re enter your wifi password & tab connect....

its work for me......
