Help Cannot Get AIM Messages from friends?

So my friend used to be able to send me AIM instant messages to me in the form of text messages to my phone, but with the Moment, I don't seem to be able to receive any messages from her, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I don't want to log into AIM through the phone because that eats up data, and I don't want other people talking to me all the time, usually it's just for her benefit. Who do I figure out how to receive her messages, like I used to be able to? Does it have something to do with them being SMS or something?

If you have a moment you should be on unlimited data anyway but if not there may just be something that doesn't want to allow aim as sms. Sorry I can't tell you a fix.
