Root cannot root

ok so im completely new to this whole rooting concept. I attempted to use the unrevoked 3 to root my phone and i am wanting to install a cynogen mod rom on my phone. but i keep getting an error that says failed to get root is your firmware too new. i have no idea what im doing or what im looking for i reset the phone to factory defaults and tried again and again with no avail i have the boothelper ver 2.18 on my phone if anyone can give me some insight please help

Unrevoked will not work with your hboot.

Unfortunately since you've accepted the newest OTA's the "one click wonder" roots will not work for you.

yep rooting now will be harder then it used to be. one suggestion is to read, read, read, and then read some more. also if you have any questions about the process then AF is always here for you.
