Root Can't boot into recovery....

K, here's the scoop:

I had an outdated version of GNM recovery, took the lazy way out and download ROM Manager. Flashed the latest clockwork recovery and attempted a recovery reboot and it took me to bootloader... had to do a battery pull and restart.

Went back to ROM Manager, flashed the latest GNM recovery, attempted a reboot into recovery and it gets stuck at the splash/boot screen (I don't know which one is which)... had to pull battery and restart.

I need to get into recovery to flash the V1.2.1 update and make a nandroid, but as described above I can't get into recovery, what did I do wrong / how can I fix it?

side note: A week or two ago I tried to restore a nandroid and it gave me the error "oops, something went wrong." What can cause that?

pre-thanks to anyone who helps.

Well since your on velocity i am assuming, just try to get into recovery by holding power button like you are going to shutdown and there is a button for recovery. If that doesnt work, use rom manager and flash the alternate recovery amon ra 3 to 5 times so it sticks. Hope it helps.

^^^As he said. Using Rom Manager, you may have to flash GNM recovery several times to get it so stick but it should work eventually.....

I think i'm going to have to do it manually, I tried flashing GNM recovery multiple times as directed above without success, it just takes me into bootloader. I guess that's what I get for taking the lazy way out.
