Help Can't call without bluetooth

I went to make a call tonight (and received calls), and only to discover that everything was mute on the call. I couldn't hear any ringing or the other side. I couldn't hit the speaker phone button, it wasn't an option. I was able to mute/unmute the phone, which obviously did nothing.

After some frustration, I rebooted the phone (airplane mode first, pulled the battery out for a few minutes) only to discover that did nothing for me.

I tried plugging/unplugging a headset, just in case, which did nothing.

Finally I tried the Bluetooth, and alas it worked!

So my question, any thoughts on why I was having problems? (I DID double check the phone settings and I could hear ringtones when I was getting called back)

take a can of air and blow out the headphone jack or blow in it hard.

Yep, I tried that and it isn't helping.

I am also unable to listen to voicemail on the phone, but I can hear it either via bluetooth or plugging the headphones in. I am rooted, if that helps at all.

In case this helps troubleshoot too, I've been streaming radio online a lot more lately than I have before. I do use the audio jack for that, and it is still working.

Its the jack. Mine is ****ed too. I see threads and post about this all the time. Someone posted about a cleaner they found to work. I usually have to plug the jack in and out for a few minutes to get it to work

Somehow by the miracles of the android universe, my phone is now a *working* phone again. :D After using 1/2 a can of air, many shut offs, ultimately freezing the music app via titanium and quiet a few plugging/unplugging the audio jack moments.....it works!

Now, lets just hope that the phone continues to function as a phone that lets me talk to people. :)
