Help cant connect to my computer

I posted this in the wrong section the first time.

Ok here is the situation, i use my phone as a usb drive of sorts to get info from one pc to the other. only all the sudden one day about a week ago i plug my phone into my computer and nothign comes up on my computer, no you have connected device what do you want to do with it screen, nothing in device manager, nothing. the battery icon on the phone changes to the charging icon so it is getting power.

Windows 7 (64-bit)

Same cable that came with the phone and worked just fine in the past.

Try a different hub. Sounds like you forgot to use safely remove hardware before you unplugged it. This turns off the hub to protect it. If this works, come back and I'll tell you how to get it back on.

I dont think its computer problem, i can still plug in my usb headphones and all other stuff into those ports and i have tried every port as well as trying it on 3 other computers still no luck.

Go to settings/ applications then development. Turn on debug usb. If in computer the drive still doesn't show, it is the cord or phone.

bought new cable still no luck. looks like its the phone. If i "restore my phone to factory settings" do i loose all my contacts and photo's etc?

Just to be sure, you're swiping down the notification bar and selecting disk drive mode right? And still no detection?
