Root cant get above 998mhz

In order to overclock the phone you need to be running a custom Kernel. I would suggest either AnthraX, Lithids aggressive freedom, or the new underground kernel by ca1ne with SBC charging.
Most people find that 1113MHz is a pretty safe setting. Don't check set on boot until you know its safe

Just fyi My phone will not overclock. It becomes unstable so some can some cant. I think Ocean got a rom kernel combo over 1.3 at some point but I dont remember what he was using. But my phone bootloops at 1.1 so make sure you dont have it set at boot untill you are shure its stable.

I'm using Anthrax and I just let it fly as it with interactiveX gov. (I think the interactiveX gov. has a built in screen off profile, no?) No probs. Like it.
do you have setcpu or system panel or something installed where you can see your actual clock speeds? my experience with interactivex and smartass on anthrax is that it doesn't actually get above 998 even if you're overclaocked. I think chad was still working on the governors on these test releases and then it got pulled. ondemand is the only one that actually overclocks for me
I can see my clock speeds etc thru rom toolbox pro...I probably can set them from there but haven't yet...my phone is running well as is and battery life is good...24hrs with light use....no gaming or surfing..using juice defender.

Yes, both interactiveX and smartass both have screen off profiles built in. I don't know where they are set though, and when I set my own at 245/442 the phone spends much more time at 422 and below than without it.
Most suggest against using your own screen off profile when using those governors.
