I was trying to delete my Frequently Called list and I went settings > apps > all > contact storage > clear data and now when I use VZ backup assistant it won't work and they are also not showing up under people either.
Did you have your contacts syncing to your Gmail account? If not, you should for this very reason. As for Verizon backup.... are you sure you had it enabled? You may be able to go into their website and recover the data that way by logging into your Verizon account.
