it is becuase of the way the battery is setup and can't be removed. please read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...g-dummies-guide-lazypanda-racun-unlocked.html. there is a section about hboots with instructions on how to get to the bootloader. i usually just shut it off, wait a few minutes to completely power down then press and hold power+vol down.

ive been reading through that guide. i long press power, select 'power off', wait a few minutes, try the vol down + power and it it just reboots. Ive tried holding vol down + power for minutes, seconds, one then the other, vice versa, etc.... i cant imagine its that friggin hard..... but im lost......

after it is powered off. i just tap the power button while holding the vol down button. i forgot to mention that if you hold the power long enough then, yes it will reboot.

I usually power it down, leave it for ~10 secs or so, then press & release power+volume down repeatedly untill hboot appears

Settings, Power, Fast boot -> do not check.

Sounds like you have that on.

The camera button has NO part in this. At all.

The proper way to get to HBOOT is the following:

1) power down the device. Wait for it to power down completely.**
2) press POWER + VOL-DOWN simultaneously and keep VOL-DOWN pressed.

Let go of POWER, or you risk powering back down after the 10 seconds (I'm referring to the mechanism of hard-shutdown which HTC put in place due to the lack of a batter-pull option).

After a few more seconds, the white HBOOT screen will appear.

Yes, you can let go of POWER almost immediately, as long as the buttons at some point were both pressed together.

**Please note that if you try this procedure before the phone is completely shut down, it won't work. The problem is, there's no visual cue to let you know when the phone is completely shut down. Just because the screen turns off doesn't mean the phone isn't still booting down.

I've found a way to help determine if the phone is completely powered down. It requires that you plug your phone in to charge. When you shut down, the screen will go off, along with the charge indicator. Wait for the indicator to come back on. Even though it's back on, the phone still isn't ready; you should wait another 10 seconds or so. Then give the HBOOT procedure a try. If the charge light doesn't go out after you let go of POWER, wait a few more seconds and try again. When the light does go off when you release POWER, it will work; just keep VOL-DOWN held down, and HBOOT will come up.

Haven't checked that yet. I was able to get it to go once. I aborted all further progression due to phone issues. The phone was having network errors. I couldn't get into Google wallet, and couldn't get the phone to activate. I didn't want to risk any possible warranty issues. And all of this gets even better............ I took my other Evo LTE out of the box to charge. plugged it in and the turd wouldn't charge. I tried 12 different chargers to no avail. However, the GS3 and G note2 charged right up and lookedfine.
