Hello everyone. First off I do not own an Evo 4G so I don't know much about it. I'am trying to help out a friend gain s-off. He rooted awhile back using unrevoked 3. He even flashed cm7 nightlies. But I noticed he did not have s-off. He's tried re-rooting and still s-on. What can he do to gain s-off? Sorry everyone for asking but I don't own an Evo 4g, I own a Htc Glacier (MT4G) rooted s-off, Sim unlock & eng. bootloader, running CM7.1.0 RC-1, 2.6.35.13-cm7-faux123-1.0.7. Anyway, just trying to help a friend. Thanks in advace.

what hboot is the phone? have you tried installing then uninstalling htc drivers. read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html guide. it will show you how to root it.

I don't know which hboot, and I don't know if he tried to install and uninstall the driver's I will ask him. Thanks for ur reply ocnbrze.
BunnyStrider, can he run unrevoked forever after running unrevoked 3 and not getting s-off?

running unrevoked forever should work as well. even after running unrevoked 3. the only difference is that forever adds the s-off flag on to the nv radio permantly. it is there so that if you were to accept the ota you will not loose root.
