Can't get to recovery menu!?!

Thanks for wasting some brain power in my direction.

That was going to be my last resort, switch back to the original .5 version of the 2.1 sprint rom. I still have that on my computer at home.

At one point today, I got to a screen much like the "Volume Down reboot" and it gave some sort of option to erase user data/info. I don't know how I got there, and I don't know if that's an option I should look to explore.

Peace.

Let us know what happens:) If you decide to try the CM6 again, flash the rom first, then the gapps. Then reboot phone and set up your phone with the google account.

Then... flash the VVM, kernels... after you get everything set up

Try Google Voice rather than Sprint VVM;)

Fail. Fail. And more Fail.

Decided to try re-rooting. I used the universial one-click originally, and it's still on my phone, so what the heck, right.

-> Root my phone.
<- Your phone is already rooted.
-> Root again!
<- Woot! Your phone has been rooted.

Run over to ROM Manager and -> install from SD
-> add CM6.1RC
-> add GAPPS
<- Gonna have to go to the reovery to finish.
-> SWEET! We're getitng somewhere.

=> Reboots.
=> White HTC screen
=> Flash and vibrate and reboot! (THIS IS IT!!!!)
=> White HTC screen (W! T! F!)!!!
=> Trusty old lock screen

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MY RECOVERY MODE???!?!!?!?

I'm at a total loss. I have absolutely no idea how to get into recovery.

Please, someone, suggest something.

Thanks.

Tried something new this morning. Uninstalled ROM manager. Deleted the Clockwork folder from the SD. Reinstalled ROM manager. Flashed ClockworkMod recovery, successfully. Tried to backup current ROM. This is where the fail starts.

It seems that when my phone tries to get into recovery mode it completely shuts down. Again, my only recourse is to pull the battery. The power button does nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Desperately seeking recovery.

Peace.

Are you trying to 'back up current rom'? You need to make a nandroid of your stock rom in recovery first, then when you have a 'new custom rom' then use the RM app to 'back up current rom'

I'm back! Sorta.

I posted my problem on XDA and someone suggested using ROM manager to flash alternate recovery, and then flash clockwork again. After that reboot into recovery worked again!!!

After getting back to CM6 I'm having a couple of other issues. I might be starting a new thread if I can't find the answers. (Basically, while I'm in CM6, I seem to have lost root permission and can't get it back.)

Peace.

FWIW, I'm in 100%!

I got CM6.1-RC1 up and running fully this morning.

While I was trying CM6.0 yesterday I was having root issues, and some keyboard issues (programs were not responding well and closing down after certain keystrokes).

Now, everything seems to be working.

Thanks a bunch Andy.

Peace.

No worries:D

Glad everything is up and running now, if you run into any issues with the rom let us know;)

Well I gather you got it working and everyone was throwing their tricks and tips into this and I thought I should add my experience. I am rooted with Damage Controls Last Rom. If I want to get to my Recovery/Nandroid screen I hold down the home button and press the power button. Yes this is the common way but my experience is while I am holding the home button down if I do anything except a short tap of the power button I get all the symptoms you had and I could never get to the Recovery/Nandroid mode. I can't explain it but it's just something that was lucky enough to figure out. While holding the Home button and if I press the power button "too long" the phone locks up and I have to pull the battery to start over. But while holding the home button and just tap the power button it works every time.

Just my two cents worth. Hope this may help somebody.............
