Root Can't Install Amazon Appstore after ROM change?

hongyeus

Lurker
After I switched ROMs and backed up most of my apps/data using Titanium Backup, I went to go download the Amazon Appstore from the website but when I install it it always shows "download failed". Also, when I try to use the "restore" for apps I downloaded from the Amazon Appstore Titanium Backup shows restore "failed". Is this normal?

Lastly, when I was restoring apps using Titanium Backup I was forced to click the "install" button for every single app, for the future is there a way to simplify this process? I'd love to try out several ROMs but it takes so much effort to restore all my apps?

Thanks!

This should probably have been posted in All Things Root, but to answer your question, no that is not normal. If you have access to a PC, you could try downloading the apk there, then transferring it to your phone for installation.
As for restoring your apps, I've noticed that too but I don't change my rom often enough for it to be an issue. I will, however, research this for you. I'm sure there is a solution and if you and I have both noticed this issue, I'm sure there are others who would appreciate an answer as well.

I found it, here. That explains why I haven't seen it in a long time. I paid for Titanium Backup a while ago, it's one of my must haves.

I switched ROMs -- using Harmonia 1.7 right now -- and the appstore was restored from my Titanium backup. I can't get the appstore to update, though. Not sure what's going on there.

You could always uninstall it and re-download the newest version.

One of the reasons I don't use Titanium Backup anymore is it would mess up installing some apps.
I now use Root Uninstaller Pro.
Backs up an app the minute you install it. Saves every app version you've installed until you unistall them. Great if an update sucks and you need to install the previous version.

It doesn't have batch backup or install, but manually you can install all apps Quicker with Root Uninstaller Pro.
It cost less than two bucks and is worth it.

Best decision I made.
