Can't install Purple Froyo 2.2 (Update)

Update:I got it to work. I was searching around some websites and found the wiki page for CM. It said to download the kernel [Kernel][GPL] DecaFuct [2.6.29.6][12/22/2010] - xda-developers
THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED ME OUT!

I've had my phone rooted and on Fresh 2. since it came out. I'm about to replace my Hero with a different phone, so I decided I wanted to change ROMs. I wanted to go with this one [ROM] (31-DEC) FroYo 2.2 - CM6.2.0 Extremely Blue, BlackMod, Red, Purple, Vanilla - xda-developers. Now, my problem is that when i try to wipe the Dalvik-cache, it tells me to 'run 'wipe dalvik' via adb'. I read somewhere that it means that it doesn't need to be wiped and to just flash the new ROM, and I did that, but it either gets stuck on the white HTC screen, or goes on a boot loop.

Am I missing something?

Phone info:

Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: 2.42.01.04.27
Kernel version: 2.6.29-bc0d2cff htckernel@and18-2 #1
Build Number: Fresh ROM 2.4.0 by Flipz
Software Number:2.27.651.6
PRI Version:2.20_003

Did you wipe data/factory reset also? You need to wipe everything, data>cache>dalvik cache. Then flash the rom, then flash the gapps

When you say won't allow you, when you click on Davlik it normally does not do anything, looks like it is not working but it is, you just can't tell, are you using CWM recovery or RA ??

The first thing I did was a factory reset. Then, when I try to do the dalvik cache, it won't let me.

I press the home+power buttons to boot into recovery.
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe dalvik-cache (even though I still get the error)
3.Flash zip from sd card. (which I renamed 'update')

Make a Nandroid first, then try flashing an alternative Recovery, download CWM and then flash recovery make another Nandroid, then wipe again and then try to flash the CM6 RoM again, report back

Now its just stuck on the HTC screen.

I'm going to try the stable link.

That just went over my head... let me go search some threads and figure it out.

LOL, OK since you are using RA recovery make a fresh Nandroid backup, then download Clockworkmod from the market, once downloaded, open it and once you get SU permission then click on the flash a recovery, then boot into recovery, then a make another Nandroid with that recovery, then wipe as mentioned earlier, once done, then try to flash your CM6 again and report back

is it suppose to not say anything when I do a dalvik-cache wipe? Like, I click on it, and it just flashes for a sec and then nothing.

Yes when you use CWM recovery that is what it does

Umm interesting, I had similar issues a while back but I was always able to resolve my issue by simply doing a wipe of the cache and nothing else, seemed every time I tried a new RoM and wiped all I would get into boot loop mode, then if I started over by putting my Nandroid back and then booting into recovery and simply wiping cache, all would work on a new RoM flash

okay, then...It still gets stuck on a boot loop.

Did you try just wiping everything, data, cache and dalvik cache, then flashing the rom only. Then reboot

OK now instead of wiping data, try simply wiping Cache and Davlik, then flash RoM again and report back, worth a shot
Nope, still stuck on HTC screen. I accidentally deleted everything on my sd card. good thing I had it copied on my computer. anyways, I reflashed Fresh, and it worked, so I don't know why this one won't work.

The only thing I'm trying to flash is the ROM.
