Can't Log on with Firefox

Well-Known Member
Hi All,
This is my first post and I'm a Newbie with a brand new "Optimus M" and have ALOT to learn. For some reason I can't log on to your forum from my PC (Windows 7) in Firefox or Palemoon, only IE (ugh). Any ideas as how I can fix this are appreciated.

Thanks......Tom:confused:

what does it do?

you enter your name and pass in the boxes, hit login, and it refreshes and shows you logged out still?

if so, after that, just click a topic and see if on that page it shows you logged in.

if you are logged in then you are good to go, sometimes cache issues can make it look as though you are logged out on the homepage when in fact you are not.

if you are not logged in when you view a topic do a cookie dance and see if that helps.

cookie dance
go to another website like google.
go to tools>options and then privacy tab
click remove individual cookies
remove anything having to do with androidforums
click ok and exit options menu
close browser
wait a minute
open browser
go to androidforums and login and see if it works.

Yeah, I always to to "about:blank" when doing that. ;)

I'm having an issue as well. Under IE8 and FF on Win7 and FF on Ubuntu 10.4 on a different machine.

I put my info in, see two boxes at the upper-left saying that I'm logged into phandroid and androidapplications. Then the screen refreshes and takes me back to the login page.

Sometimes I can get in using IE8's InPrivate browsing. Sometimes not. When it fails with InPrivate, I can then get in using IE8 as "normal."

At my office, I can log in every time.

I have IE8 set to clear cache and history on close. The same way I have it set up at my office.

FF on Ubuntu is set to the defaults. It wouldn't let me log in at all. :(

?!?!?!

Thanks.

Thanks Caddyman for the reply but still no go. I retried Firefox with "noscript" turned off but I can only sign on to this forum with IE. Makes no sense to me, but I do appreciate your replies.

Tom

Sounds to me like a cookie issue, odatkid. Using NoScript here, the only permission granted is to "androidforums.com" and once logged-in I'm remembered thereafter.

I'm using a shortcut, no www. in the address. I have tried with and without automatic cookie handling. Srsly, every other time I go to log in from my laptop I have to use InPrivate under IE. I just tried logging in with FF under Windows 7 and still get redirected back to the login screen.

?

I just logged both a successful and unsuccessful login attempts using Http Debugger Pro and exported the results to XML if anyone's curious.

Another odd thing about all of this is if I have a successful login, log out and log in without closing the browser, I get a failed attempt. If I keep the browser open and try again, I get in.

WTF?

Thanks.

If you're logging in and get directed to the 'login screen', click your UserCP and see if you can access it. Not sure if that's related to what you have but when I log in, the log in screen doesn't show that i'm logged in. But if I click on UserCP the Android picture, then I it shows I am logged in.

I think it had something to do with my "No script" settings in Firefox..now I can log on.

Thank you again for all the replies.. This is a great forum.:)
