Help Cant recieve calls while using any app... metropcs?

papidoom

Lurker
hey , well i jus got my Huawei ascend yesterday from metropcs. i love the phone , really enjoying it but ive come across one problem today.

while using any apps i cannot recieve phone calls at all. it sends the callers straight to voicemail , is this usual?

this is my first android phone so im unaware if this is the norm or not.

i thought maybe because pandora was streaming it figures i couldnt receive calls but even with other apps like the light saber app or a simple soundboard app , dont receive the calls :(

i still receive txt msgs tho.

can anyone help me out? thank you.

i ended up doing a factory data reset and i still have the same problem. im assuming my device is simply faulty? is anyone else with metropcs having this problem?

well i think i figured out the problem , its not the phone it self. metropcs just sucks.

calls are able to go through while on wifi , but when your on theyre normal network nothing goes through whether your using an app or browsing the web. even when you have 3 bars or more , nothing goes through..

ive used metropcs for the past 3 years and never had any issues with them. i had the Samsung Finesse smartphone for like 2yrs , i was able to browse the web n use crappy apps but i still always got my phone calls through when i was using them.

this is defenitly a dissapointment :(

It might be your settings. Go to seettings, call settings and tweak the settings like call forwarding or call waiting.

I bought the phone yesterday and haven't had any problems with receiving calls when im on Pandora, twitter, the web or anything im doing, I even tested it calling from another phone just to see and its work fine with my phone I don't know why it wouldn't work its a smart phone.

Hi Eccentric! I don't know if this has anything at all to do with it but you mentioned that you are using Pandora. Could it have anything to do with the amount of data you are using? I know some carriers have a limit on your data. Have you checked with MetroPCS to make sure you have unlimited data?

(Lets set our problems aside :)) Eccentric is not the one with the problem:)

I meant....do you think that Eccentric's problem is Metro? ;) Maybe I misunderstood you.

Eccentric doesn't have ANY problems. He said that his phone DOES work for calls.Read his post again carefully:)

Ohhhhhhhh!!!!! LOL !!! I see now. Eccentric wasn't the original poster with the problem. Thanks for catching that! D~OH!!! I'm blonde...what can I say? :p

I have Cricket so that might be why. I guess you will need to wait for the metros backup rom

Its kind of like a more deep and thorough "factory reset." It returns your phone to its intended working state.

There are several post like yours....MetroPCS is the issue not your phone.

But I love that Cricket users seem to know all the answers...even though they are not on MetroPCS.

I have experienced the same kind of issue. I was playing a game and it sent my calls to VM. I really don't have hard evidence on what or why, but it has happened 3 times for me.

Playing Fruit Slice

Playing Angry birds

Web browsing

All use data(the games are ad supported)

But not much else to go on....

yea the problem is metro not the phone itself. i even went down to metro and asked for a new replacement phone but the i got the same problem. metro pcs' coverage simply cannot handle receiving calls and using an app at the same time.

the lady at metro told me they got an email warning them of these problems. we tried everything obv from factory reset and a new phone , didnt work tho.

im just gonna deal with the phone and this issue until metro comes out with a better coverage or maybe a more advanced smart phone. i cant complain i only paid $100 for it lol.

i can recieve calls when on wifi though.

The reason it goes to voicemail when people call when you are using an app is because the app is using data - like Pandora streaming. You can't run voice and data at the same time. As far as I know, this is a limitation of CDMA and how it transfers data and voice through the same line.
