Root Cant root Windows 7/ubuntu

Follow the guide I compiled linked in my signature for windows. The guide you mentioned missed at least 1 step that I see.

Also the unrevoked forever part is only relevant if you are on a CDMA desire.
 
Not Rom specific.

Have you partitioned sd card yet? If not, see a2sd faq in Sig.

Rooting faq in Sig has steps for flashing

Hoping to get around to doing this after work tonight. Didnt have any burnable cds so going to have to go the sd card route as far as to the partitioning
 
Ugh Stayed up till 4 am trying to load the new rom. Keep getting this error

assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")== "
Bravo" getprop("ro.build.product") =="
Bravo"


E:Error in /sdcard/Redux-v1.2-signed.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.


Any Clues as to what im doing wrong ?
 
What network are you on?

CDMA means no sim card. I.E, the opposite of GSM.

Examples of CDMA networks:

Alltel
Sprint
Telstra
US Cellular
Verizon

Full list worldwide here:

CDMA service providers worldwide

Redux is not a CDMA ROM so if you are CDMA, you need to look here under the CDMA section:

The reason I think you may be CDMA is the error. It basically says it cannot identify your device as bravo (GSM desire). So I think your device is bravoc (CDMA desire)

You're 100% right. Ill try the cdma rom tonight after work! Thank you very much for your help so far
 
A proud owner of a custom rom. I went with cyanogenmod 7.
Any ideas for a good app to control your phone from a computer

post on the forums for that rom, its likely to be a settings issue but i dont know anything about the cdma setup as its different in many ways

as for the screencast stuff
i dont think there is much/anything in that form anymore in the way of wireless
i know there used to be programs like droidexplorer that used to do it over usb but now that stuff doesnt really work

i use a tool called remote desktop that basically allows you to access your devices files from the pc over the wireless network using a generated web address

EDIT: search webkey in market it works
set res to high and quality to png, its a bit slower but it works well
