Help Can't send or receive picture messages?!?

JSS12

Hey All,

I am rooted, Virtuous 3.2 ROM, had a bit of an issue with random boot loops so I did a hard reset and rebooted Virtuous 3.2.

Since then I am unable to send or receive pictures messages both on wifi or 3g.

It doesn't work on Handcent or Stock Messages.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
JSS

Try a different rom or reflashing virtuous... try *228 and reactivating the phone or updating the prl.

Tried *228 option 1 and option 2.. I still get the message.

I am almost embarrassed to ask but I dont have time to sift through all the old threads... how do I reflash my virtuous? and what from my setup will be lost?

There was a time when I flashed new ROMs daily... but almost 8 months have passed since then and I have settled in, guess all that info just walked right out of my head.

Thanks!!

Make sure the Rom (zip) is on your SD card then reboot into recovery. Then wipe data and cache followed immediately by install zip from SD card, choose zip and once you locate it, select and load. Hopefully you have your apps backed up with Titanium so you can restore them after the phone boots up.

unfortunately (if you recall) somehow my phone reverted back to that crazy issue u helped me with a couple months back. now phone is boot looping etc...

did factory reset - Titanium backup was putting apps back on... then boot loop

now factory reset- going to add apps back on via appbrain... and slowly!!

god help me.. why so many problems with this phone..

considering un-rooting....

Yeah no kidding. You'll have to refresh my memory though. Have you ever reloaded a Rom from scratch with a full wipe? That sounds like the most likely fix to me. Factory resets are iffy with a custom Rom IMO. Better to blast away and start from scratch altogether.

That was our previous thread... that ultimately lead to me doing what I just did now.. FACTORY RESET!!

No clue why this keeps happening to me. I would say I'm a moderate user, and that I'm not technologically intelligent enough to dick around to much with my phone. I have some non-market apps (maybe 5) and the rest is pretty legitimate (as legitimate as rooting gets), Virtuous 3.2, HeyIt'sLou Kernel 4.

I can't keep factory reseting every couple months... its getting to me.

Anyway... after spending the past day and a half.. my phone is back up and running. AND YES I CAN SEND AND RECEIVE PICTURE MESSAGES NOW!

Sounds good I remember now. If this happens to you again I would do a FULL wipe and then load a different Rom altogether or an updated version of your current Rom if one exists rather than a factory reset. See how it goes though and good luck.

Hey All,

Well it started all over again... I can't send or receive picture messages. 3G works fine downloading attachments via email but nothing through handcent incoming or outgoing.

I'm now running CM7 and have been for the past 2 months or so with no issues... not sure if it was hadn't been sending many pic messages recently or if the issue just arose.

I just get a message "Message _____ unable to be downloaded"

Other than factory reset, any other ideas? (I already erased my cache and dalvik cache)

Thanks in advance.

JSS

Are you getting the low space notification as well?

I noticed a correlation with that and the ability to send/receive picture messages.

Try going through deleting some threads, emails, cache, and what was taking up a lot for me was Facebook data, and see if that corrects your problem.
