Root Can't update due to clockworkmod? Maybe...?

So i had my phone rooted for a bit and installed clockwordmod recovery and what not. Anyways already tried a factory reset and stuff, but it seems as though i can't update my droid x with that software update that came a couple months back i believe. Never really thought much of it but i realize now that i can't update because even if i boot it into clockwork, i select to install update.zip but it just brings me back to the recovery screen. Not sure on what to do. Help would be much appreciated.

Oh and by the way, i'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to terms and everything in general, so simplifying things would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know how to sbf? A good idea would just be to sbf into the latest build and then root it.

If you are willing to try that, we can help you. There's a great tutorial here.

I have it all on my phone, but i can't seem to open it...? States "Cannot open this type of file". I'm just trying to do the very first step lol.

Hi,

Follow the instructions in the tutorial. In them, you will find that you run SBF from your computer connected to your phone which you set to bootloader mode. The sbf file is not executable from the phone itself.

That said, unfortunately I'm going to bed now, but perhaps someone else can help you out tonight if you get stuck. If not, there are always a bunch of helpful folks here to help during the day. Good luck! :D
