Help Can't Update??

OzzyPyro

Newbie
Okay so i have been unrooted and all and running stock for a little over a week now and today i was re prompted to do the system update. I made sure my battery was at 100% (even plugged into the charger), and connected to wifi and such. then i hit Install now. It shut off, went into the recovery booting, and started the update. then suddenly it stops, flashes the android man lying on his back, chest open with a red ! triangle above the chest, and rebooted normally. The update did not go through, and when trying to get it to check for a update again, it says i am up to date. I am still however on the MC1. any thoughts or suggestions? any body else had this happen??

I had the same thing happen to me. The Android man with the Red triangle. That means the update failed. Did you have your phone rooted before (guessing you did)?

Check your Baseband and Build in System Settings>About Device. See if the Baseband AND Build say PAMG5 at the end. My guess is your Baseband will say it, but the Build still says MC1. If that's the case, that's why the updated failed.

Did you use G60's stock backup to restore? If so, I fixed this by flashing no-props after restoring G60's stock back up. This should install the update and the Build and Baseband should then end in PAMG5

Base band reads as L300VPLJ9

tried flashing no-props, fail due to status 7 error. has anybody found a fix for that yet?? :(

Are you using Sprint version of phone? That baseband isn't VM.

The update is for Virgin Mobile so it's not gonna install on the Sprint version

You may be able to flash the no-props update if Jerry removed baseband check. It would require flashing TWRP as it won't work with stock recovery. This would update you as well as get you back to Virgin Mobile baseband.

If the baseband check is still in place you could edit updater-script to remove it or if you don't know how I'm sure you could talk someone into doing it for you.

is there some software i could use to edit it? i could keep trying till i figure it out. unless somebody randomly comes along and is willing to do this?? xD

Just a matter of extracting zip file, opening updater-script in text editor, making correct edits, rezipping and signing new zip.

If your not sure how to properly do it I'd see if someone else could. If you happen to edit or remove wrong code it could cause some issues,

If my computer wasn't dead I'd check it for you. Lightning took it out so I'm waiting on parts to build new one.

sounds so easy, yet looking at the code, makes you really wish there was something that looked like it meant a baseband check!!

sorry to hear about your computer. hope you get it fixed soon!

alright, well i gave that a shot and all that happened was my phone got stuck on the samsung screen...so i went back in and restored from my back up... thanks for trying to help though!

Sorry. Its a backup of my phone now working great. But you probably need the no props update to fix baseband to make it compatible with the kernal I'm using.

It's okay, you tried :) I just wish I knew how to edit the updater script and try that.... Maybe some day. Now I'm hoping somebody comes along who knows how to edit that...

The Victory is used by a few carriers, you have to use backups that are carrier specific. Be sure you flash VM specific backups etc.

I wonder if restoring G60's backup would be the way to go? Then flash no props?

that is what i have been doing, is restoring from G60's clearing the caches, then trying to flash but i still get the status 7 error. I haven't been able to find anything on a fix for status 7. just some things that talk about entering code and copying a modem?? I am so clueless ><

IIRC Jerry said he's got backups of every partition. Maybe shoot him a quick pm?

He's super busy, so be patient waiting for a response.
