Card declined but...

When I clicked finalize order it refreshed the page and said "credit card authorization declined." I was using a debit card btw lol.

Can't you check it on your bank's web site? Seems to me you could find out if the funds were withdrawn and when and how many times. You did not provide much information so how can we possibly help?

I get text notifications if anything was withdrawn

It probably won't be shipped if you got the notice it was declined. I would check your online bank statement and see if the amount was taken from your account though. Also make sure you don't have any overdraft fees.

As do I. Sometimes, not every time. I say you should go to the bank's web site, log in to your account, and verify that the funds are there and see if the transaction has been cleared.

You might (I hope not) discover, as many sad people often discover, that you have a zero balance because of a hacker or CC fraud.

Personally, if I had a large balance in my account and an $6.00 charge was not allowed due to insufficient funds, I would go crazy and I would not take it lightly.

It could depend on many variables. For instance, if you have used your card several times in a fairly short period of time, sometimes the bank will decline a card on the chance that it is stolen. I have had my bank call me to check that I was the one making all of the purchases. It is kind of a bother, but on the other hand, if my card were stolen it would be a blessing.

I had cards declined in 2008 by US airlines for no apparent reason, specifically Delta and American. Was trying to book a return flight from Boston, MA to Dayton, OH. I had both a VISA credit and debit cards with UK banks, and both cards where declined by these US airlines, this was on the internet and at Boston Logan Airport.

Nothing wrong with the cards or accounts, as I was able to pay hotel bills with them and was able make ATM cash withdrawals. I paid for the flights with cash in the end, by using my cards at the airport ATM. Which obviously proved there was money in the accounts, and the cards where not blocked.

I was thinking that US airlines take US cards only. But then I've known many other people use UK credit and debit cards to book flights with US airlines.

Hmmm must be a conspiracy against me by the US airline industry. Not been to the US since.

BTW in China, cash is king. This became obvious when I found the local travel-agent only accepted cash, and did not have any card facilities at all
