Can't really confirm the tacky feel since I haven't opened the box. The general consensus is that this brand does have that feel, however.

I won't be in the Bay Area for New Year's, unfortunately.

I put the Zagg full body on mine last week. It really wasn't all that hard to do but yea it is a little rough to get the screen on perfect. The tackyness on the screen protector hasn't been an issue and when the screen is on it doesn't look any more than 5% different. The sides and top and botton pieces really are kind of worthless. They are too skinny to really stand up to in and out of the pocket abuse and seem to want to pick up lint and come off. All in all its pretty good but with 6 pieces to cover the face it makes for alot of small pieces that can be tricky to apply right. Not much else Zagg could have done but more pieces makes for more chances of failure:(

Case in my left front pocket as always. I got a cheap case til they come out with some better ones. I really didn't like anything I saw yet. Although I kinda like the case and it's doing it's job nicely. I had a 30% off hero acc. coupon so it was a win either way. It arrived 2 days after I purchased it as well. They have quite a few cases available. HTC Sprint Hero Graphic Case - Black Skull

The silicone case I got at Best Buy that was made for this phone is great but not for the pocket. It has too much friction with the cloth of my pocket and it catches all the lint. My pocket is pulled inside out everytime I remove it. I want one of those hard plastic cases. When I am shopping or something I just carry it now to avoid the pocket lint trap.

I currently have the hard rubberized case with a zagg screen protector. Has anyone tried one of the PDAirl Flip Cases? I was wondering if they would work with the sprint hero.

Very interesting responses. :p

I'm surprised at the number of people that carry their phones in their front left pockets. Statistics say that most people are right-handed, so I'd have thought the phone would go in the right front pocket.

Body Glove. No link on website.

I'm right handed but use my Hero (and all phones) with my left hand.

Ok so I bought the HTC Sprint Hero Rubberized Shield Hard Case Black and used the offer code: 30htcoff.

I got it Saturday and i have to say I LOVE it. Its not that sticky rubber, maybe a little slippery, but I need to break it in. I love the feeling of the phone, feels more secure in my hands.

I ordered another product and they said that the items "may" ship separately. I got them both same day so it seems the case is in stock. Anyways, first time ordered there, but not the last.

Thanks chocmatic for recommending it.

Well, yesterday, I walked into my local Sprint store and saw the new hard rubber snap on case cover. They are nice -- so I bought one. Much more rugged and robust than the soft silicone slip-ons. This comes in two pieces and snaps together and covers about like the older silicone protectors.

And that fits nicely in my belt clip on leather carrier which has a magnet clasp to hold it closed. Phone comes out real fast and it carries VERY SAFE. Good for when I am out-of-doors, in my boat, etc. No fear about dropping it overboard or breaking it.

Works for me :D;):D

have the same case as chocmatic. Works great. I use it in pocket as well as on my Seidio innocase holster for my treo pro. Fits a touch looser but still very secure. Not worth investing more than $8 on a case until I check out the Moment and figure which way I'm going.

Yeah I got this Body Glove case as well. It is very rugged and easy to take off if you want. It isn't all that pretty and adds some bulk but hey it does the trick. I also carry it in a Very Bradley tech case pouch.

Ordered HTC Sprint Hero Crystal Hard Case Smoke

Haven't gotten it yet so not 100% sure if I'll end up keeping it. I might try the hard rubberized one if it doesn't work out. Or just wait it out for more cases to show up.

I'll be carrying it in my front left pocket (same as right now).

I have this exact case (and one like it for my wife). For $5.99 and the promo code mentioned earlier on the thread, you can't beat this case.

It fits perfectly and keeps the phone nice and safe. It is a bit hard to open if you're constantly swapping memory cards or such, but that's not an issue for me.

Once in this case, I actually keep my Sprint Hero in a cheap horizontal leather case on a belt clip (left side if that's relevant). :D

How well does the electrostatic screen work with a regular (thin film) screen protector? Had one on my old Mogul and it saved a couple good size dents in the LCD...

Ok, after noticing small hairline scratches when carrying my Hero in my pocket naked, I decided to install some Bodyguardz screen protectors.

Definitely recommend getting this (or something that has 2 protectors) if you've never done this kind of installation before. I messed up the first, but the second came out much better.

Any chance you can post some pics?? I didn't know Sprint had new cases for the Hero. So now they have the silicone, which I have and do like, and they have a hard case??

I'm about to order this case. I see in the description it says "Pre Order Only!! Coming Soon." Did it say this when anyone else ordered it? I'll email them as well, but thought I'd check on here.

Btw, first post, just got my Hero on Monday. :)

Good Morning --- sorry am on the fly here, and cannot post a picture, but it looks very much like an installed silicone "slip on" with some differences.

The two pieces, being much more rigid, snap together in a perfect fit. There are cutouts for the volume controls, earpiece, camera and USB port. It is a great case. The only downside for me is that I want to go to to a larger battery when they become available, then the case will go into my accessories drawer. But it is perfect for the standard case and battery size.

I have tried a couple, the best one by far is the Noreve, pricey but quality, I highly recomend;)

How do you plan on carrying your Hero around with you?

If you chose 'Pocket with Case', please post a link to the case you're using (if/when a link is available).

If you chose 'Belt Clip / Holster', please post a link to the clip/holster you're using (if/when a link is available).

If you chose 'Other', please post whatever your other solution is.

As for me, I've always been a phone-in-the-front-pocket guy, but I keep hearing more about how it shortens battery life and increases the chances for a cracked screen, so I thought I'd create this poll and see what other people thought and were planning to do with their Heroes.

Got this

HTC PO S491 Hero Standard Leather Pouch - Black

and carry it in my pocket. Was thinking about going for a silicone/rubber case as I got one for my little Ipod nano and it's great, but I also got this for the car

DriveSafe Car Pack For The HTC Hero

Which would have meant taking the rubber case off whenever I got in the car and too lazy to fanny around that much

Hope it helps

Sorry to tell you this, but I don't think the safe driver's pack is going to work with the Sprint HTC Hero, it lacks the angled chin that the other HTC G1/G2 devices have. This looks specifically molded for the G2 only....

I ordered mine from amazon. I saw that seidio is getting ready to release one that is rubberized but the inside is felted.

Cases? Like this phone ever leaves my hand.

Truthfully though it sits on my desk at work all day, front left pocket (alone) otherwise.

Since the Hero has a nice glass screen I'm not too worried about it getting scratched, though there's a Zagg kiosk in the mall down the street, I might go get a screen protector just for the smoother gliding - I find there's a bit too much friction on the glass sometimes when scrolling.

Outside of that, plain jane, this phone feels and looks too nice to cover it all up!

FYI, if you want a smoother feeling on the screen, I would NOT recommend the Zagg. It actually makes it feel stickier.

Agreed. I just picked up the HTC silicone case from BB and it's a lint magnet if you put it in your pocket. I like it a lot though. It was more expensive than i was expecting, but I figured after paying for shipping from an internet retailer it was worth it just to get it now instead of waiting.

I just received mine in the mail and when I ordered it, it said the same thing. I live in NC so it took about 3 or 4 days to ship from cali. I must say I love it so far. Thanks for the suggestion. The best $7 I have spend so far. I think I am going to go with no screen protector. I really like the screen the way it is, and since I am paying sprint for insurance, if the screen gets too bad I will just loosed the phone and get a new one.
I love my Hero!!!!
