I really liked my B&N Industriell case, but after a couple of weeks I can tell in certain lights that the front cover is beginning to rub smooth spots on the front fascia of my NC.
I stuck some old EZGrip dots onto the corners of the NC to keep the inside of the front flap from touching - it's not too unsightly, but now I'm worried that the EZGrips might exude plasticizers over time and damage the NC (Why yes, I AM obsessive about keeping my devices pristine, how did you guess?
) So I'm on the lookout for a new case that will provide better protection. The B&N book-style cases I've seen all seem to have a clamp system that leaves the front of the device exposed so the cover can rub there, and even the ones with a clasp to keep the cover closed seem to allow quite a bit of play. Has anyone else noticed a problem like this?
The other option would be a gel/Trident/Otterbox type case, but I'm a bit concerned about lugging it in the laptop sleeve compartment of my backpack without more substantial screen protection. I also worry about possible scratching of the shiny black strip where the N button is. I've never seen that mentioned as a problem though - how susceptible is that area to damage?
Edited to add: I think I might have found a solution - looks like what I need is a vinyl skin, at least on the front of the device. They even seem to come with a piece to cover the shiny black part. Looks like they're thin enough to not interfere with using a cover.
