Cases for the Moment

All I want is a good holster. I'm probably going to buy this phone this weekend, but I do NOT store my phones in my pocket. Only holster I've seen so far seems to be outward-facing. That sounds like a brilliant idea to have that giant screen directly facing every object I could slam into and crack it. Has nobody else located a reasonable, well-designed holster yet? Seems crazy to me...

I sent an e-mail to Seidio. We'll see what they say. They've always treated me very well.

I just got two of these (hey they were so cheap I go 2).

Holster For Samsung Moment SPH-m900 - Samsung SPH-m900, Moment

I was shocked to find that the screen faces outward. (I didn't learn about that from this forum until after I ordered.) I have had holsters like this for my last three phones and they were all designed so the screen faced inward (protected). So based on history I didn't even consider that this case wouldn't be designed in the same way. I guess the designer just doesn't have any common sense.

Since I had 2 cases I took my Dremel tool to one of them and got my phone to fit with the screen facing inward. It's not quite right but it should work until someone with a brain makes a proper holster.

The first three on this page look like you could probably set it in facing either direction. It lays horizontally so it takes up less space and the bottom of the phone doesn't run into your leg or stab you in the gut haha

Samsung Moment (SPH-m900) Cases - Samsung Case

I've been lurking around the site for awhile and not posted anything, but I wanted to share this... I ordered it on Sunday and will post real pictures when I get it if anyone's interested?

PINK Case+Car Home Charger+LCD for Samsung Moment M900 - eBay (item 110472718683 end time Jan-20-10 15:29:11 PST)

The seller had this combo in a few other colors I believed as well - black, blue, and neon green?

The best case I have so far are the rubberized ones from DayDeal. I just got the pink and white flowers one in from DayDeal today and it doesn't quite fit as well. There is a little rubbing and lifting on the slider. Not as bad as the "official" cases though. I'll be keeping my pink rubberized one on at least until I get the ones from fommy.com in...we will see how those are! ;)

Does anyone else have any problems with them not fitting perfectly?

I was planning on getting a black one and a red one. I like the rubberized finish. Shows less fingerprints. I currently have the Helio Ocean and the phone itself is that rubberized finish. Glossy just looks dirty real fast.

The rubberized one I have from DayDeal fits very well. I can't say how they are for any other phone but the Moment. The BEST case I ever had was a Casemate for my Blackberry Curve, unfortualty they don't make them for the Moment. :(

Awesome! I'm getting my Moment next week and I really want to get a good case for it as soon as I can.

Hi:

I ordered a Horizontal Belt loop case on Ebay, supposedly for the moment, and it was so tight the phone wouldn't fit. Once burned, I'm reluctant to order another until there are accessories actually designed for the moment.

In the meantime, I found a Chinese trading co. store in the Mission district of San Francisco with both horizontal and vertical belt pseudo soft leather cases for $4. The horizontal one has three pockets. I put my fast pass in pocket 1, my Samsung Moment in pocket 2 and my Palm T/X in pocket three.

I'll be looking for a sturdier case in the future but this one works for the time being.

I've also seen a suggestion on another forum for a sturdy holster case at Home Depot that also comes with a flashlight but haven't been there yet.

I have invisible shield as a screen protector and am pretty happy so far.

Dude... are you Batman? :D

Hi:

You're not the only one who's given me a batman moniker. I work in an inner city public school and if you put you're phone down and walk away--it's gone. I'm still happy with the case I bought. It has no magnet, real belt loops and it's thin.

My phone now looks stylish AND it is protected. Dropped it on carpeted floor to test the case's staying power and it still looks great. A+

Cool! I've got the green one coming... I almost got the red, but I also ordered an orange one with similar description from amazon with my phone order.

Hi folks, I just got my phones today. I have read that some cases that have a magnet in them will mess up the compass in the Moment. Anyone else know about this and is there any truth to it?

I thought the compass was junk anyway... I never even tried it.

My case has a magnet in it. I'll try the compass later today and report back. You won't use the compass when its in the case anyway so I don't see where it would bother it.

Got it in black and it rules. Phone looks tough!

I just bought the same, as well as a mirror screen protector, a Naztech 3 in 1 charger and the swivel clip for the case; $30 shipped in all. A little excessive for shipping ($13.5), but not a terrible total price.

I have a plastic one similar to the "official" case, but this one is glossy and stays put without interfering with the slider.

I am currently waiting for my Body Glove to get sent, as I had it on my Curve and they don't make an Otterbox for the moment yet, if they ever do.

My wife and I have the Moments now, my wife picked up a pouch type case and I've gone with a hard shell case.

We found this at Target for $10. The flap and front inside of of the case are pretty rigid, so 2 layers to help protect the phone. Back of case is rigid as well. The clip does rotate, kind of locks into place every 45 degs. Magnet flap holds pretty good. The Moment is a tad longer than the case, but it stretches and has a nice snug fit, easy to put in and remove.

I went with a hard shell case I picked up off of Amazon:

It snapped on, maybe a 15 second install. I'm able to get to the USB port without any issue. I hope to never find out how good (or bad) it is though.

Some other items that showed up today as well... I picked up a some Mini USB Car Chargers, one for each car.

Tested them out, phone went into charging mode.

I've purchased a 5 pack of the EZguardZ screen protectors, which is on the phone in the photos above. Less than $1 each. The touch screen responds the same as far as I can tell. I installed it "dry", peel and stick, used a credit card to smooth out. Oddly, that put fine scratches on the protector:rolleyes: But I can only see them if I get the glare just right, to which then I can't see the screen anyway. Not been in direct sunlight to see how it looks, but indoor light I really don't notice the protector. There are a few super tiny bubble here and there, but unless I look for them I don't notice them. For the price, I guess they are a pretty good deal... better than nothing on the screen.

Hope this info is useful to some one.

a little fyi for people wanting solutions for the car (as I've been getting some PM's lately). If you're using the snap on hard cases on the Moment, ProClip's adjustable ipod holder is a perfect fit for it and leaves you in good shape for the next generation slider phone provided it doesn't get too much thinner.

If you're using it naked in the cheapo plastic holster or a case with the swivel nubbin, you can just get this slotted holder. It's raised so you can slide a belt clip down it, or the notch will hold the nubbin on the back of the case/holster. The only downside to the second half is it doesn't have any vertical staying power when you plug in the usb cable from the side. The ones with a belt clip aren't an issue. That's how I do it now, and it's been working well in the absense of a dedicated holder for the Moment. Though the adjustable holder with the cheap holster seems like a nice fit, so I just might switch it out.
