Cases or naked

I have a case, the innocase II and the rugged add on if I need it (the 2nd gen which doesn't scratch)

funny story (not really)....had my phone for about a month before I decided on a case. Ordered my case and the day before it arrived, drop my phone from my top pocket of my coat. pieces flew everywhere....I cried a little (jk)...and now there's a crack running diagonally across my screen. it's not huge and my wife says it's barely noticeable but I will always wonder if I ordered that case 1-2 days sooner, would it have ever happened?

since that day, my phone has always had a case on it.
1. bc I don't want anymore cracks!!
2. I had to pay full retail price for this bad boy and I can't afford to replace it and I need it for school

FYI, you don't have to pay full price to replace it. Just request a repair order from HTC and they'll replace the screen. It won't be cheap, but it won't be nearly as expensive as getting a new phone.

Thanks for the info, but it's workable, it really is just a hairline crack and you have to hold it a certain way to really see it but I'm a perfectionist

Plus, I wouldn't want to risk getting a SLCD screen

You wouldn't. If they repair your phone, they likely only need to replace the glass cover and not the entire screen. But, even if they did replace the entire screen, they've agreed to replace AMOLED with AMOLED, and SLCD with SLCD. Don't believe me? Look at a few of the people who tried to swap their AMOLED for a refurb SLCD. They're all still getting AMOLED, just as Verizon and HTC promised.

I have no reason to doubt you, I'm just a worrier

No case. I tried that Verizon gradient red case when I first got the phone and everytime I dropped it the phone exploded. It got damaged everytime, making the case pointless. SO I removed the case and put on clear Ghost Armor (a growing company like Zagg, but no orange peel effect). Better look, and much better protected. Havent got damaged since.

The sales pitch is that your better protected from screen cracks as well - the plastic dampens vibrations throughout the whole screen when dropped, so your screen wont crack. No case can do that. Makes sense to me. As much as I drop my phone, I tend to believe em.

Just a case. I don't know why, but the phone feels too small, or too thin when it's naked. The case gave it the bulk it needed to feel comfortable. It's probably just me though.

It's not just you. I got my case off of eBay ($6.99), and it's smooth and slick. Not bulky or heavy.

I too want to keep my phone as scratch-free as possible.

Mine was naked until recently. Of course I never caused damage until I had the case on though. Drunkenly shattered the screen in AC this weekend. It was a cheap case though. After the repair, I'm going for a Seidio though.

Naked with a Zagg SP. Thinking of getting the Seidio Innocase II black case for $19 on amazon. I really like the way it looks naked but I'm concerned about possibly dropping it. For anyone using a Zagg if you go on zagg.com and register it you can get free replacements for life, you just have to pay shipping. The girl put my zagg on when I got my Inc at Best Buy and she screwed it up, little bubbles and specks of debris underneath, so now I'm getting the full zagg (covers screen and battery cover) for $3.99 shipping. Not a bad deal, IMO

Now that I've had this otterbox commuter case for a few weeks, the thought keeps popping into my head that the Verizon 2150 battery would fit if I carved out the silicone insert to accommodate the extended back. Anyone with the commuter case think that might work ?

it depends on where im going. if im going to be outside the majority of the time then im definitely bringing my phone in a case. if im going to work or a friends house then i might go caseless.

Naked.

For a few months I used a seido case but it just made the phone too bulky and difficult to slip into/out of my jeans pocket. Also, I tend not to drop/throw/or otherwise destroy things so I'm not too worried about not having a case on it.

I also used a screen protector but within 2 days it was scratched all to hell and made the screen look terrible. I've now been using my phone without an screen protector for 2 months and haven't had any problems with scratching.

I'm trying naked for a while. I've had a BlackBerry for years and have always used a belt clip. I'm trying not to wear one (not sure why other than the fact that I don't want to wear one anymore). I have the OEM extended battery, so a case is not currently available.

I'm also taking a risk by not going with a screen protector. The ones I got from VZW have a matte finish, which is completely absurd. The first few times I used the camera, I thought the pictures were out of focus. It was the matte finish on the protector that made them look that way. I've used an iPhone Touch *a lot* for over a year and have no protector and absolutely no blemishes on the screen. Too, my OCD goes into overdrive and any dust particles that get on the screen or protector between the time I clean the screen and place the protector have me spending too much time getting it right, and ultimately wasting a protector. I'm hoping the Incredible's screen will be as resilient as the iPod Touch's.

i loved my phone naked BUT

I LOOOOVE the Seidio innocase active. It's perfect. The design still makes the phone look great by accentuating its features, its low profile as to not add much bloat, and still offers a great amount of protection.

Always have a case and screen protector on. In my opinion the phone itself is a bit too small to handle without a case. Using my Seido Activecase gives me good grip on the phone and makes me less worried if I drop it.
