Root Casio_C771_m130_Stock_Rom

yes i did a few days ago. Their response was... (paraphrasing) "we are not authorized to perform that task. However, if you call this number (a third party phone repair service *contracted* with Verizon), they will repair or attempt to repair it for you." That is where my old phone is currently on it's way to. when it comes back, I will try what i stated before, and post the results. unless anybody else is willing to take the plunge in the name of commando science...;)

EDIT: i will also record boot times with my new phone till adb shows in device manager so you guys have some more data.

i looked at the software and was a bit confused. could someone explain it a little more on how to use it?
also, is it possible to just create our own hard key recovery?

First what software are you talking about. Second the path way has to be built into the mother board to. I think not 100 percent sure thow.

never mind about the software, i had to actually rtm. the kitchen works now.
so i will extract the boot.img from some other phone that has recovery, and compare what is different from the casio boot.img.

i was able to take apart the boot.img. it looks very complicated.
as I was pouring over the information, I found some code in your boot img you sent me:
# adbd is controlled by the persist.service.adb.enable system property
service adbd /sbin/adbd
disabled
dosn't that mean that the adb service would be off at start? im sure i'm wrong, just trying to understand this.

im sure you know a LOT more than i do about this stuff. do you see anything that would look like hard key recovery code? prob is around the same area that has adb reboot recovery?

no not really. my thinking is they use a usb jig or path way box. to get recovery up. or they use a program like odin to flash.

ps I have tested adb while in bootloader. will not work. but if you can get to the loading screen it will work from there. the security is bs on this phone. can make it insecure. only when not in the bootloader.

what if we make roms that don't touch certain files? like system/media? that has the hard key recovery code in it.
when a rom is being installed, dont wipe system, just override files as it installs. and don't touch some of the "untouchable" files.
in my opinion, that seems like the easiest way to ensure the saftey of the phone when installing custom roms. how realistic is it?

I never said wipe system never wipe system. I said wipe data/factory reset. And wipe cache, wipe delvak cache. You should never wipe system. And those hard key files are for data/factory reset.

I understand that the hard key files are for user wipe, but when you use the GNM recovery, it breaks that command. All it says, is "E: Invalid argument"
So it's (more or less) a hard key way to get into recovery!:D
I understand you said to never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever wipe system, but in case the explainable happens, which is what happened to me, it's nice to have a last resort fallback.

Successfully flashed the stock rom back to my dying phone (had so many system app force close errors and random reboots!) Thanks Monkeytools and willster!

i have try flash from M120, and success..
so.. i think you can try if you wanna update. cause that is mean M120 or M130 look like just build number (universal).
CMIIW :D

but if you don't have custom recovery and hard key to go recovery please don't do it.. :D

Thanks was waiting for someone to try to upgrade from m120 to m130 with this. Glad it worked out for you. Keep testing and let me know if you have any problems. Can you check in settings and then about phone and look at build number and see if it says c771m130. And make sure you check your 3g works. So I know if I need to look into modem. Just want to make modem has no problems.

What wifi fix? My C771 has the "Error" when turning on wifi. The service actually seems to be running, since the signal indicator is on all the time. I just can't "Turn On" wifi in "Settings".
