Root [CDMA] 2.08.651.2 ROM updates - post 'em here!

soon? we just got 1.3! he is going fast enough. It will be pushed back a few days due to the new OTA that just came out.

Didn't mean he should drop everything & work on it now. Not the impatient type. At least when it comes to roms, like to sit back & see what other people's experience is witht them first.

SBL and TZ...worth flashing as well? I get the merits of a radio/PRI update, and the RPM which apparently is an update for the SOC, but I've yet to find something that seems like a coherent answer as to what SBL and TZ are/do...perhaps because no one knows as of yet?

Worried that installing them might lead to something down the road, so at this point, thinking I'll flash the radio/pri and RPM seperately instead of doing the whole pack (minus HBoot), but was hoping someone might chime in that knows more than I.

I just applied the radio update and did a prl and profile update and now in my apt is went from 1-2 bars to 2-3 bars so it seems like a good radio update and there is no wimax update in this release

I bet they wait until we get the new kernel source.
Nobody is going to want to be stuck with stock kernel for long.

I was able to install the odexed stock ROM without any issues, but the firmware updates kept aborting. Anyone else have this problem? I tried renaming them the PG86img.zip and still no luck.

Re-download your PG86IMG_2.08.651.2_firmware_nohboot.zip and verify the checksum - Astro File Manager should work fine for that once on SD card. Don't know if it's late night typing, but just to be sure - PG86IMG.zip ;)

I had no issue that way.

So sorry for being a noob but if I follow the steps Mike layed out I will have the latest firmware with s-off and root as before am I right?

As a little update to my earlier post about the radio update. As reception at my house got better, i noticed that i was connecting to 1x instead of 3g. i did a few prl and profile updates and went back to the previous radio. Once I flashed the previous radio, it would not allow me to update prl and profile. However i am getting better reception and none of the 1x that i was having issues with with the new radio.

OK - followed the 2-zip process.

I am not seeing the Tell HTC option under About phone as posted by marctronixx -

Thoughts?

Nice, so it's not just me. :D I thought I might be going crazy. I figured out my problem from that other thread I think with the "Damaged SD card" message, and was wondering if I was just missing something with the "Tell HTC" option.

The other thing that's been happening for me since I updated is that when charging, the touchscreen seems to become far less responsive. I can scroll up and down as quickly as I want when unplugged, and sometimes even when plugged in a bit, but then it starts to lag terribly, to the point where it takes multiple tries to move up and down in the app drawer, many times accidentally launching apps while trying. If I unplug, instantly back to normal.

This is the EXACT same behavior that I've noted when trying my MHL adapter. Curious if you've noticed anything like this as well, or maybe this one IS just me.

Ok, for the MD5 Checksum I get:

bcea75347f8194eb1c10b2711e98a225

Dumb question, but how do I know if that's good or not? I renamed it exactly PG86IMG.zip. After re-downloading again and renaming it still aborts when I try to install it through clockwork mod recovery.

That MD5 Checksum appears to be correct. Might be a dumb question, but assuming you're using a Windows machine, do you have file extensions hidden? If so, you very well could unwittingly be naming it PG86IMG.zip.zip.

My mileage varies.

Using this rom, the combo file with the radio update, PRL then Profile update (went fine), my signal strength is fluctuating a little higher than before and I'm on 3G - d/l 1+ Mbps, u/l 6~7 kbps.

Mine was whacked until I remembered I had profiles set for setCPU that were good for netarchy's kernel - not this one.

So, I was running *slow* until I realized that it had reset things to the minimum for the profiles that made no sense.

Does that apply in your case?

From the link in the OP, the md5 sums are listed -

So - your checksum looks good.

Is it at the root of your /sdcard folder (read: not inside any other folders)?

You shouldn't be getting to this via CWM - when you power up holding volume down, it will show the menu for a moment, then it should simply detect the file on the card and go into an auto-install.

PS - What Jackietreehorn said - and I'd suggest using Astro File Manager, Menu, more, Preferences, Look and feel, uncheck "Hide file extensions" to be dead certain.

With Astro, the file should appear under /mnt/sdcard - that's the same thing as /sdcard whenever anyone mentions it.

I've actually been renaming it with Astro or Root Explorer on the phone itself.

Doh!!! Trying again now. :o

Worked now! Thanks everyone. I was trying to do this at 2 a.m. last night so my brain was not functioning properly, lol.
