My home keeps popping up there is an update and I can't get the icon off my taskbar. Can I do this update while rooted?

I'm surprised you got a notification. I thought revolutionary disabled OTAs by default.
Revolutionary has nothing to do with disabling OTAs. It only flips bootloader security off and (sometimes) flashes a custom recovery.
From there, it's you who flashes superuser, and even that doesn't modify any of your Android settings.
Surprisingly little is apparently changed during a full root.
When rooted you need to install the update .zip manually. Check this link. I just installed the odexed version with the firmware no-hboot. Works great, and the phone seems smoother.

Do you lose anything? Wipe required?
No, you don't lose everything. A lot of people recommend doing a hard reset though. I only wiped the cache on mine though and it worked great!
Freeze worked! Thanks!
Tried to freeze it using AntTek App Manger, worked for a while, but now the icon is back. I try to unfreeze updater and it tells me that the apk can't be found.
Any ideas on how I can remove the icon?

Did the icons return after a rom update?
I'll try again later tonight. I switched back from a rom because I thought it broke golauncher, turns out I apparently just needed to install a home switcher (which is weird in its own right).
Thanks
You don't have to install home switcher
Go to manage apps
All apps
Find sense and click clear defaults and that will allow you to pick your launcher next time you select home
So roms and kernel updated, check for updates unchecked, still showing up.
I ended up freezing and apparently removing com.android.updater. I guess this was the wrong this to try to freeze... Any way to get it back?
