Leeeroy Jennnkinnns!
Howdy,
So it's been a while since I came by here. I knew ICS came out a while ago, but because I have the new Evo LTE, I didn't immediately update my old Evo 3D. Today, I finally decided to do it.
Of course, I missed out on all the threads that probably explained exactly what I needed to do. So I just searched for a rooted stock ICS rom and flashed it. Boot loop.
So I thought maybe I needed the radios. Flashed that. Boot loop.
Then I decided that maybe my recovery image was too old. Got the latest clockwork (which was what was on my phone already). Flashed both radio and rom again. boot loop.
So I thought that maybe I needed to get 2.17 first (I was on 2.08). Flashed the 2.17 rom and radio. Woo hoo no boot loop. From there, I flashed ICS and ICS radio. Boot loop.
Hmm, so then I'm thinking that maybe my old HBOOT 1.04 may be the cause. I was one of the old-timer Revolutionary S-OFF rooters, and most people here had HBOOT 1.5 shipped with their phones. Well, it didn't matter. After some digging, I discovered that I needed HBOOT 1.58 and other firmware before I could run ICS. So I found the ICS firmware and flashed it. boot loop.
Well, it flashed kinda quick, so maybe the ROM was missing or something. So I flashed the ICS rooted stock rom again. Finally, success
