Root CDMA Desire OTA Help

no to which, sorry im digging for info as weve been through quite a lot

so from what im reading

you opened up zip in winrar, modified and deleted the assert section in updater-script but left the section for firmware.zip
flashed update.zip from stock recovery?

if this is the case then we now know that the edify script htc uses bypasses the cid and signature check for the radio/hboot/recovery image as that is supposed to act like the pb99img

we might be onto something here

no to changing CID in firmware. and to re-signing.

I used clockwork recovery actually but all the rest is a yes. It did flash recovery from firmware then reboot recovery and I guess flashed the rest. and reboot to OS. then did something that took about five minutes to process and it was done.

As for firmware update. It didn't go to hboot to apply it. it stayed in recovery and I am speculating on the flashing of recovery first then reboot before flashing the rest of firmware. it didn't stay in recovery but a few seconds after it rebooted to the stock recovery.

but in a whole yes we did just bypass the entire assert check!.

Now you have me curious... I wonder if I flash my phone back to a nandroid and put stock recovery if it will take.

I'm willing to try and let you know.

i thought you unrooted , didnt realise you still had CWM. that explains why it worked.
dont think it would have worked on a stock recovery :/

I said in a previous post that I had re-rooted my phone after talking to my carrier tech support. Actually might have been an edit which is why you missed it I'm sure.

I will (after nandroid backup) reflash older backup and firmware and try with stock recovery to see if it will take.

Edit:
Scratch that.. sleep deprivation got the best of me. forgot about the signature check in recovery. surely I won't get past that untill I can sign the file for htc.

well i didnt mind guessing as you were aware of the risks and i warned you i wasnt sure about the outcome.
I know a little about scripts so when i looked at the update it was the first things i checked as htc opted for the standard android way of pushing OTA (thankfully)
