Root [CDMA] FOOLPROOF UPGRADE FROM 2.17 TO 2.89 (desperate)

I got the phone used a few month ago and neglected to check for a firmware upgrade before I rooted and flashed a rom. I'm running the Gangnam Style JB rom, but I'm not having any real problems. At this point, the only way to update would be to flash a stock rom, update, and flash a nandroid backup of the JB rom I got on it now? Or should I just leave it alone?

If you're happy running what you have, and no issues, then there's no reason to change anything. Only a couple of ICS ROMs require 2.89 firmware, so unless you want to flash those, I see no reason to change. If something happens to the HBoot during the process, you now have a used brick...

Actually if you updated the firmware from a stock rom, it would break root and you would need to re root all over again.

As said above, of your happy with what you have, no need in changing it.
