Root [CDMA] Get ready for OTA's!

I actually like Lollipop on this phone for the most part. My only complaint is that it lags once in a while when going back to Facebook from chrome, YouTube and or play store. This might be because it is a soak test or something I am doing. But all in all I am happy in with it.

I'm still unable to apply these patches to AOSPA due to his repo being private.

Hi, question I've downloaded and flash the zip file for the update but in doing so, my phone last recovery and root. When I try to boot into recovery to restore the back up I made on cwm I get a dead android with the red triangle then it boots back up by it self. I've tried to use the adb tool to possibly flash cwm recovery but I get an error. Is there anyway to get around this? Phone works so that's good but I've lost root and recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Google CF Autoroot and reroot your device then flash your recovery.

I have 2 questions. And if this has been answered already I do apologize about the redundancy of these questions.

I have 2 questions. And if this has been answered already I do apologize about the redundancy of these questions.

1st. To my understanding Android 5.x.x completely gets rid of Dalvik runtime in favor of Android Runtime. So no .dex, no .odex, or JIT. They went with ART and AOT. Which admittedly is quicker.

However I have noticed when I clean the caches on my phone and then launch Titanium Backup to back up my apps I hit cleanup the Dalvik cache there are times when there is data to clear up. Did Google leave Dalvik cache behind for legacy reasons or is there more the story behind ART?

2nd question. While I do appreciate the work that SuperR put into this ROM and I will most likely use it as my daily driver until Motorola releases the "Gold Code" version. However I love testing out other ROM's (ie Cyanogenmod, AOKP, Carbon ROM, etc, etc) will I have any issues installing them being I ran the partition tool to get the fill Lollipop experience on this phone.

Thank you head of time.

For your first question I think the residual dalvik files are related to 3rd party apps that haven't updated to the latest APIs (from what I've read). As for the second the updated bootloader etc from the stock 5.0.2 will make flashing CM, Resurrection etc better and less problematic.

I had a rather disappointing morning. As i mentioned before, when i get some time I will build a new recovery with the new kernel to see if the recovery glitch would go away. I got my machine all ready to go, synced the cm12 sources, built the recovery, fastboot booted it, and to my surprise it is not cwm recovery. It is Cyanogen recovery...a perfectly functional yet completely useless recovery. You can't make backups, flash zips, or anything else beyond stock recovery so I am a bit confused what the point of it is.

Anyway, when I get more time I will build cwm from cm11 sources and see what happens. What a waste of time lol

I had read they (CM) had plans for their own recovery and cloud based backups etc...would have thought it'd be a bit more...well "more" at this point...

Here it is if anyone wants to play with it. Curious if the glitch is gone for those of you that have updated your bootloader.

falcon_cyanogen_recovery.img

if you do "fastboot boot falcon_cyanogen_recovery.img" you can check it out without flashing it.

hi im currently using the cf auto root for cdma and trying to re root but its saying waiting for device but my device is already in bootloader mode, can anyone help with what i should do next?

Who wants to try this CWM-Swipe 6.0.5.1 built from the Lollipop kernel source? It boots and the menus work, that's all I have time to test right now. Let me know know if the screen glitch is gone for those who have updated your bootloader, and also if backup/restore is working.

Nice I'll give this a shot when I get home. So far at least for me CWM has been the best performing recovery on this phone. Thanks man! [emoji106]

Simple as pie. Turn off your phone. When it is off, press and hold the volume down button and the while holding volume down press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. Then release the power button and then release the volume button. When you see the menu that comes up you are in bootloader mode.

A tip for anyone who normally use "Tweaking" software like "Pimp my ROM" or "C3 Toolbox". Do not use any program like that. While it may not brick your phone it will be a disaster. I did and I ended up having to reflash LP. If you want to make booting up faster, control what loads at boot use a program like Autorun manager, All in one toolbox, SD cleaner and all the stuff like that.

Also being you have been warned, if you brick your phone it falls on you to unbrick it.

Oh man I'm giltch free super R your one awesome mutha hehe..... I use the debloated soak test as a daily I don't think its a soak test but anyways I flashed this cwm swipe 6.0.5.1 with flashify no recovery glitch at all I haven't tried making a backup yet but going to try it plus try other cm12 Roms with this awesome recovery you made a great job keep duking it out man five stars for you
Glad to hear the glitch is gone :)

I strongly suggest testing the backup/restore functions before doing too much ROM flashing. I was not able to get my 5.0.2 backup to restore using CWM 6.0.4.7 and it was a pain to redo everything. I have a lot going on right now and have no time to redo my entire phone so it will be a long while before i get a chance to test this out fully. I hope someone out there has more time than me and can get this thing tested.

Don't make a back up from 5.0.2 not enough room on the system....mine was 641mb probably because to many apps or so
The 5.0.2 backup could be 2GB or even more depending on what you have installed. I use a usb otg flash drive for backups. Would be good to know if that works on this recovery as well. It should.

When I try to flash falcon_220.42.18_updater.zip to update my bootloader for xt1031 i get this error. Anyone know what is going on ? I'm getting pretty frustrated. I just wanna update my bootloader so I can install the newest cm nightlies.

You can try this partition updater instead. I extracted the 5.0.2 modem.img from my device so it will not check your current modem first. That is what is causing your problem so this should work for you.

Bro I really appreciate your help. It flashed perfectly. Thank you so much. After a week of endless searching and troubleshooting I got it all worked out.

Then I was able to finally install the latest CM and did not get a single error. You are the man.

Have a great day and thanks again!

P.S. Did it update the modem?
