Sweet! For future reference I think you could save a few steps. I think you probably didn't need to re flash your recovery. If you couldn't boot up then you probably were right having to manually remove the pg86img from your sd card. After that though you probably could have just booted into hboot (volume down + power) Then chose recovery. Then just restore backup or flash another rom.

You're right. I thought about that after, but I admit I was in "uh oh" moment when it happened. I thought I may have jinked myself with that comment earlier regarding to much tinkering with the phone potentially causing it to fail. I had to pause and collect my thoughts until I realized exactly what had to be done. Thank goodness I had a card adapter, or else I'd be without a phone for a bit.

Ahhh - No.....Don't Run the RUU - That is Way to much -
All you need to do is flash the Hboot through the boot loader

with s-off this is technically possible. however i will be surprised if the phone will boot with mismatched firmware and on an ICS rim

there are some mount points and other differences between ICS and GB,so all the firmware must match,and must match the rom.

the phone now says "Locked" instead of "Unlocked". Does this affect root access in any way?

fortunately,nope...being locked has nothing to do with root. the only difference between locked and unlocked
on an s-off phone is that being unlocked gives you the use of fastboot flash and fastboot boot commands.

there are other ways to skin the cat so you do not need to be unlocked to install images,you can just install them in hboot as PG86IMG files. you can also run them as an RUU from fastboot,so you dont need to phyiscally move files onto and off of the sd. helps prevent a moment of panic when you cant get to recovery from hboot

if you do like to use the extra commands,you certainly can unlock your bootloader,but like brian said,thats not so good for warranty. another way to get the extra fastboot commands is by installing one of JP bears patched hboots
