Root [CDMA] Help! Can't access recovery

jbailey01

Newbie
Hi. Rooted phone with Blackend_E3d_2.5.3_CDMA_DeOdex. Worked fine for months. Now everything force closes and can't access mobile network. Can't access recovery to re-install rom. Acts like there is no recovery installed. Don't know what to do now. Thanks for any help

Did you take any updates lately, also what base version were you on, and what recovery did you original flash ?

So then you are on TWRP, check your app drawer and tell me if you have the Superuser app, and also if you can get on the market, try downloading an app called Quickboot, and once installed and opened if you have the Supersuer app it will ask for permission, say yes, then click recovery and see if it gets you in recovery.

And the Blackened Rom, where did you get that Rom from ??

thats the method i used to root. I haven't updated anything lately. Unsure on base version...

K, thought that was the ROM you were talking about, have you tried a reboot, and have you tried to update Profile to see if you internet comes back.

I do have Superuser but can't access market. My wi-fi doesn't even work. Blackend rom is made by Nocturnal. Team Nocturnal | News

Umm that is weird, I asked XSMagical to come this thread out to see if he can see if we missed anything, you might have to do a factory reset, but what until ee comes to check it out, you may also have to try getting into recovery by ABD from your PC

Yeah i've tried various reboots. And can't update profile phone says there is no service at all.

No service, wifi or anything? Interesting. If you still have the setup from the rooting guide, go ahead and try to reflash the recovery via "fastboot flash recovery.img" to get recovery re-installed. Once recovery is working, wipe everything. /System, /data and /cache. Then install a new ROM.

Once you figure this out, this maybe a more user friendly Recovery to use for HBoot 1.5, I am sure Jerofld can explain more on it

Alright. I was able to get wifi kinda working but everything force closes. Seems there is a issue with google.framework... Can I transfer clockwork mod over to it and then just flash my recovery with that?
(I'm able to mount it to my computer as a disk drive)

Well if you have WiFi now, you can download CWM from the Google Play store and install, and you can then flash a recovery from the app, but as i mentioned to you before, I would not use the APP itself to flash into recovery, I would use the app mentioned Quickboot, or do the recovery manually

Play store force closes on entry and can't load, thats the main issue im having now. The only reason I suggested CWM is because i'm more familiar with it from my GS2. The e3d is my g/f. I had a hell of a time rooting this phone.

Yep I know what you mean, thus the reason why I never updated mine when I got it with the firmware updates, so mine was a piece of cake to root. If you have the APK, then you can transfer the APK to your SD card, and then you can try to install CWM app that way

Wow. I figured it out. I just had to take a quick refresher on the fastboot process thanks for all your help you guys. Greatly appreciated!!

alright. bad news again. So i setup Evo3d Twrp as my recovery. Formatted system, cache, dalvik, and installed Mean Rom. . . Now all i get on boot is the HTC white screen and nothing happens. Tried doing this twice with no luck...any ideas

You may not be on Firmware 2.17,651.5, here read the disclosure in Meanrom, see below

Before you Install, prepare:
1. THIS ROM DOES NOT REQUIRE THE LEAKED VIRGIN MOBILE FIRMWARE!
2. I would suggest NOT using the VM firmware: see this THREAD for an explanation.
3. Latest Sprint (2.17) firmware should work fine: don't use older than 2.17.
4. If you have any trouble at all, do a SUPER WIPE and then install the above firmware and this ROM
5. Go to "Menu", "Settings", "Power" and UNcheck "Fast Boot". When you reboot or power off the phone, you really want it to reboot/power-off. This can save you a lot of headaches.

How to flash

Please use 4ext Touch Recovery because it works on both Hboot 1.4 and 1.5 (including S-ON) and will give the best results (least potential flash problems like reboots or boot loops).

i think it was the firmware issue, just went back to blackend for now. everything booted up and ready to roll. I really appreciate your help!

Yep I thought so, but if down the road if you wanted to upgrade, then it is very simple
