Root [CDMA] installing adb drivers

scroodles

Newbie
I'm trying to turn s off using jeunopobear method, one of the requirements is to have adb and fastboot drivers installed, so it didnt work. I have no clue what this means. I thought i already had the drivers installed because I was able to use the fastboot and adb commands to root my phone? Can anyone help me install these usb drivers?

No I was just making sure. Do you have usb debugging enabled when you're running this? Sorry if these seem like silly questions, just trying to eliminate the easy fixes.

i dont know if i had it enabled or not, but i do know that since it didnt work, i was stuck on the jeounpobear screen and had to flash the ruu again and wipe my system. i am not willing to try it again until i know what the issue was. I was watching a video that decribed how to do the jeunopobear thingy, and he was showing in the device manager on his computer that u need the adb driver installed. i checked my computer and it wasnt installed, so i have no clue what this is that i'm supposed to install it.

Hmmm. I don't remember doing anything special when I went s-off... I already had everything installed for unlocking the bootloader. Did you use sdk mini? Are you on windows? Was it saying that the entire time or after several failed attempts? Also did you follow all instructions and disable all apps on their list of conflicting apps? Such as itunes and also htc sync...
I really need to get to bed tonight. I'll look more into it tomorrow.

Also if you hit support at the top of their site you can chat with 24 hr help. They are very helpful there.

All I know is that it kept on checking for adb drivers and it continuously telling me after failed attempts to find it. Does this have to do with the phone or the computers drivers?

So when you connect your phone to the computer doesn't it recognize it? All I installed were htc sync and the sdk mini from the complete Newbie's Guide. That had everything I needed for control bear. My guess is either one of those is not installed or usb debugging was not enabled. If you used the newbies guide to root then you should have everything you need already. If you have a nandroid backup you really have nothing to lose except time. I honestly think maybe usb debugging wasn't enabled but it's up to you if you want to try again. I don't think they mention in the instructions to enable it so you may just not have thought of it.

Yes my computer recognized my phone. When it says that one of the requirements to use the jeunopobear method is to have adb and fastboot drivers installed, what does it mean?

nope, that didnt work. i'm still getting an error that says check adb/ fastboot drivers, and that it cant find my phone. this time i made sure to see that usb debbing was enabled.

Wow so you you installed from that link as well? Hmmmmm. I'm not sure what else to try... Install drivers. Enable usb debugging... I would go on their help chat. They are always there and super nice.

This really shouldn't be this difficult. The only other problem i can think of is are you sure you downloaded the right control bear for your model? If you got the wrong one maybe it's looking for different drivers....

As per your first post, if you rooted you should already have everything you need.

What hboot are you? Are you cdma or gsm? Gb or ICS?

In case you didn't see the prerequisites and General instructions. Like if you skipped straight to the device specific instructions.....

Prerequisites:

In order to use JuopunutBear you must meet the following pre-requisites:

1. Be unlocked using the HTCdev bootloader unlock.

2. Be on the stock ROM and be rooted (have superuser and/or an unsecured boot image installed).

3. Some custom ROMs may work, however we cannot verify them all. If you are not using a stock ROM and have problems then this is most likely the reason.

4. Have a spare microSD card or to have backed up all contents of your SDcard, the card may be wiped, while we try to restore the card to it's original state it is possible that this will not succeed.

5. Have fastboot and adb drivers installed and working (windows).

6. Uninstall any potentially interfering phone software which such as HTC sync, Andro sync, PDAnet etc, iTunes has also been noted to cause issues.

7. If you're running Windows you should disable any Anti-Virus or Anti-Malware software prior to running our tools, it may interfere with ADB.

8. If you're running Windows7/Vista you may need to reboot after you install the HTC Drivers.

9. Have a piece of insulated wire of sufficient length to join the contact points for your device. See images and videos for device specific information.

Instructions:

1. (Optional) Perform a full backup and replace your sdcard with one that you are willing to wipe.

2. Ensure that your battery is fully charged.

3. Choose the correct download for your device and operating system (found on the device specific instructions page which is found in the darkest grey box on the top of this page).

4. Extract the zip file to a new directory.

5. Verify the MD5 checksum for your download.

6. Read and/or watch the video for the device specific information for your device.

7. Turn ON USB Debugging on your device (Settings > Developer Options).

8. Verify Fastboot is turned OFF (Usually found under Power Settings).

9. Connect your device and set to "Charge Only."

10. (Optional) If you have ADB installed and you want to check your drivers:

Open a CMD prompt and navigate to ADB directory Type 'adb devices' You should see List of devices: HTXXXXX Type 'adb reboot bootloader' Your device will reboot and you'll see your computer installing more drivers Once it's finished type 'fastboot reboot' Proceed to running LazyPanda

11. Run controlbear as admin(windows) or root or using sudo on linux.

12. Follow the on-screen instructions from ControlBear.

13. Do not press any of the buttons on the phone during the process.

14. After doing the "wire-trick" your phone will reboot. The sequence of the reboot may vary somewhat from that you see in the videos as these were taken during various stages of development.

Please note the bold prerequisites and instructions.

Honestly it sound like you have installed the drivers so if you for sure downloaded the correct version this is beyond my knowledge.

That happened to me as well. Even a battery pull would not work. Leaves it plugged in the wall for 4-8 hrs. I left mine overnight. Then battery pull worked... Is it completely dead looking with no charge light or anything?

Is it still telling you the drivers aren't installed?

i was able to boot it up to the hboot, but not past it. I tried downloading the drivers earlier and i looked in the folder of device managers and i saw the adb driver, the problem is when i updated it and rebooted my computer, it dissapeared. so now im going to try it again so as the adb driver wont "disappear"

I can't believe it giving you so many problems. Are you sure you got the right version? Also did you verify the items I highlighted in bold?

Seriously if needed go to their chat and get help. This seems way harder than it should be!

hey, it looks like it worked, on the hboot it now says locked ( not relocked) and s off. I just tried it now and i couldnt tell if it was working or not, i did the wire trick, but after it said success, the program was still trying to run stuff that said error for about 15 minutes, so i just unplugged the phone instead. Anyway, my issue now is that since my phone was not rebooted past the juopunutbear screen, i think i have to load a new ruu, will this do anything the my new s off?
Edit: actually, the whole reason for me doing this is to roll back to GB, can i just load up a stock GB or do i have to unlock first?

You do not have to unlock your bootloader anymore since you are s-off. You will need to run the GB ruu to downgrade. After you are stock gb you will flash recovery and then flash a rom or supersu patch if you want to be stock rooted. You won't lose s-off running ruu.

Congrats btw! It was probably asking if you wanted to install custom juopunutbear hboot. It's not needed.

Here is the gb ruu

This is for cdma sprint evo 3d. Do not use if this isn't what you have!

I like 4EXT touch recovery. Once rooted they even have an app if you're so inclined.

Obviously you can flash any recovery you want, I just like that one and doing it in app makes it simple. If you want to flash something else use a pg86img to do it. Don't unlock your bootloader again to use fastboot commands.

Flash recovery like this...

*the easiest way to install the recovery is as a PG86IMG in hboot.

-download this: PG86IMG-recovery_ext_4.zip

-check the md5 wich should be: PG86IMG-recovery_ext_4.zip ede71ca8a3e02664ab002b0054487c6a

-plaCE it on the root of your sd card, and rename it"PG86IMG"

-boot to hboot. it should find your file and ask you to update. tell it yes

-reboot. immediately remove or rename PG86IMG from your sd card,as its presense will keep you from entering recovery thru hboot in an emergency

-now you cango backto recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash superSU.
