Root [CDMA] Meanrom 26 ics kernal wont flash

So i finally got s-off last night, i believe im on jbear hboot because it says juopunutbear at the top of my hboot. its 1.58, i flashed meanrom26 last night that flashed perfect.

So i then went into twrp to flash the mean rom kernal for s-off only everything said successful when flashing phone rebooted, applied 219 updates, but i still could not use set cpu to overclock, still stuck at 1188 the kernal info under about device does not say anything about meanrom it says

"3.0.16-g294f767
htc-kernel@18000-build-144 #1
smp preempt"

to me that seems like the stock kernel and not a custom kernel as my software version says meanrom ICS v26 for the phone.

I tried coolz-evo3d-v4.0 kernel that flashed fine to, but still no overclock nor change in kernel version.

Any idea's, im still doing research but thought i might ask a question while i look. I screw more stuff up by not asking and tinkering than asking and tinkering lol
 
Hey ripbabey. From what it sounds like to me, meanrom uses the stock kernel. It comes with the stock gb kernel and gives you the option to flash the stock ics kernel if you are s- off and hboot 1.58. I could be missing something here but that's what the rom Page sounded like to me.
 
So does this kernel not allow overclocking? Antutu says 1188 as well. Do you know if there is any kernels that work with meanrom and hboot 1.58, or am I now going to have to downgrade hboot and find another Rom and kernel. The whole reason I went s-off was to be able to overclock this phone.
 
There's kernels out there that are compatible and can be overclocked. Just search other forums. Also, have you tried manually setting the overclock limit to see if you get something higher than 1188?
 
Is that inside the program. I have done research have not come across anything so far that talks about my specific hboot and rom. I've gone through the sticky thread discussing curebtroms and kernels. I have looked every where inside set CPU no matter what I change the values in max frequency still always says 1188.
 
Tried butteredtoast , nice little installer and cutstomizer however it failed at flashing stage with newboot.img tried it with flash image GUI. Can't find kernel/zimage. Everything I tried to flash with flash image GUI had errors and could not find libs and whatnot. Trying to follow the different roms and kernels to go with and hboots required is getting a little to confusing.

With me being on juoounutbear bootloader with hboot 1.58, s-off running meanrom v26 ics can anyone recommend an exact Rom and a matching kernel to let me overclock this phone, I really want to see what this phone can really do!
 
Ok guys after several nan droid restores I finally found a great combination of Rom and kernel.

I posted my phone settings above but for anyone who is on hboot 1.58 s-off 2.89 base I believe this will work great.

I went with the zr3d xl sense 3.6 imagika rom. Very stable Rom so far for me. It was in forum threads.
The kernel I flashed was the anthrax kernel

Ran a antutu and got a 6500 rating coming from a 5426 with the Rom only. The kernel have me nearly a 1000 point increase

Figured after all my flashing I might be a flashaholic and since I looked everywhere for a Rom/kernel mix for my phones info. Never came across a post saying if you have hboot 1.58 with s-off and want to be overclocked use this Rom and this kernel. Hope I help!
 
Trial and error...a lot like me. The anthrax kernel is nice. Used it awhile back. I re-flashed MeanROM 2.6 last night, and flashed ButteredToast RLS10 with it. Works nicely and is overclocked.
 
Butteredtoast sounded nice I don't know what you did different than me but failed to flash everytime. So far I'm happy with my setup, overclocked at 1500 ish all has seemed stable. I try to do the research and get the info but there is just way to much stuff out there lol

I flashed the ROM first, rebooted, then went back into recovery and flashed the kernel. Not sure if you did the same.
 
When you say flashed and rebooted into recovery did you flash through fastboot or a flash program. Have you used the anthrax kernel before? How does buttered toast rank. Can you antutu it and see where it benchmarks. I heard 7k in antutu is about the best you can get on these phones without basing your phone to just souly benchmark lol

Used 4ext. Anthrax is quick, but buttered toast uses aroma installer so you can tailor they entire kernel for your use. Haven't benchmarked the phone yet, but would imagine anthrax is up there.
