Root [CDMA] Miui ROM on Evo3D vs Evo 4G

Ok I finally installed Miui on the Evo 3d(whew!) as I already have an Evo 4G and wanted to compare them visually. Please note that speed was not much of a difference to me BUT aesthetics was my main concern..The Evo 3d spacing and proportions of icons is not good (actually, it is pretty bad) as compared to the Evo 4G, see photo. Anyway to adjust the icons and space around them to look like the nicer Evo4G?? Thanks

At issue is the different pixel densities between the phones... Stock Sense on the E3D had the same problem: there's only 4 rows even though there's more real estate on the screen, which means the icons are spaced apart more.

I got around this with a custom launcher (GO), which allowed me to specify 5 rows. Now it looks great. It's been a while since I used MIUI (back in the E4G days), but I thought you could specify the number of rows per homescreen.... If not, most custom launchers (ADW, LP, GO, etc) will allow you to set this.

I have to disagree with you that the resolution on the Evo 4G looks better. In terms of color reproduction, E3D slaughters my E4G (could be that I have a crappy screen on the OG Evo... it was known to have different suppliers for the screen). The higher pixel density gives the E3D crystal clear sharpness. Looking back at my old Evo, it looks pretty bad to me now, even though at the time, I thought it was a huge step up from the iPhone 3Gs.

Anyway, here's a screenie of one of my homescreens which is a sea of icons. This is not MIUI... It's a cleaned-up stock ROM, and this is GO Launcher you're seeing.

The OP seems to be talking more about the HUGE amount of wasted space created by the higher resolution. The standard 4x4 pattern could've easily been a 5x6 and looked better without such a way of space!

ah yes, i think i did misunderstand.

I find 5 rows and 4 columns to be the best fit for the Evo 3D resolution. Which is what I show in my screenshot. What I really want is for the text under the icon to wrap instead of just fade off to the right. And some way to adjust the font size would be nice too.

Correct. The Evo 3D has great potential with the sharper screen but the large amount of wasted space and bad proportions are bad. novox77, thanks for the post and your screens looks better but still much wasted space. Thanks again!
