Root [CDMA] Moto G Stock 4.4.4 and 5.1 Soak Tests {Boost Mobile}

Ok, so I have rooted and made a backup. What files exactly should I upload? You said system.tar and boot.img. I've got boot.img and I've got system.ext4.tar which says it is 0KB but then there is also a system.ext4.tar.a which is 533,411KB. Should I just upload all of that?

system.ext4.tar.a
boot.img

Please and thank you :)

If anyone ends up with a 4.4.4 updated and rooted device with stock recovery, please let me know. We should try to grab it before installing a custom recovery.

Sure thing, thank you! Let me know if you need anything else. Well anything as easy as that seemed to be anyway =P

Something strange, build.prop in your backup still states 4.4.2. If you go to about phone, does it say 4.4.4?

Yes it does.

Edit: build.prop on my device says 4.4.4 as well. Does it make a difference that I made the backup before I went through all of the setup after boot?

I think you uploaded the wrong backup lol. This one is deodexed too.
lol, go figure... I had one other backup on my sdcard and I pick the wrong one. Stupid dates and times are messed up so I thought I grabbed the right one. I'll grab the other and have it up shortly.

Ok, sorry guys but I don't have time to test this for a while. However, I did get the rooted rom and the partition updater built. If someone feels like being a guinea pig feel free to let us know how it goes :)

Instructions:

1. Wipe data/factory reset in custom recovery

2. Flash Partition Updater to 4.4.4

3. Flash Rooted 4.4.4 rom

I am 96.3% sure it will go well, but there is always a chance it will not. Like usual, I am not responsible if your device never works again ;)

Other Downloads:
Deodexed Debloated 4.4.4 rom
Unmodified 4.4.4 rom
Partition Updater 2 (does not flash logo.bin and can be flashed before or after rom)

I'll have to wait until after work tomorrow before I can play again. Will give it a shot then.

You are welcome to try the rom, but it would be nice if someone who has not updated gave it a shot. You already have the new partitions so you don't need to flash that one. If all goes well, you won't notice any difference at all after flashing this rom lol

SuperR I'm trying to pull the new baseband from the new 4.4.4 Stock update, would that be from the modem partition??

Yes. You should be able to flash the partition updater from post #192 to get all the extra goodies. I have not tested it yet however.

Why cant I get the 4.4.2 stock recovery in OP to work. It says it flashed with PhilZ, adb and ROM installer, but all I get is a dead Andy. I can flash a custom recovery back no problem. The unmodded stock zip won't flash the stock recovery either.

Not sure. I have not flashed the stock recovery in the Op lol. You shouldn't need to really. Flashing the zips from post 192 should get you updated ;)
