Root [CDMA] My phone is a BRICK for no reason...need help please!

I've got a rooted EVO 3D running CleanROM DE 1.2 SP1. I've been running fine for nearly 3 weeks, no issues except the normal "noise" associated with Android phones (occasional lockups, reboots...but these have been rare). This morning I noticed HTC Sense kept force closing, so I did a normal restart. After the boot animation, the phone was stuck at the Sprint logo for 10 minutes (that's happened before), so I yanked the battery and did a cold restart. No dice, so I booted into TWRP Recovery and wiped dalvik and cache...still no love. Now I'm really worried...I can restore from a nandroid backup, but this seems deeper. Any ideas? I could really use the help!

I would either suggest restoring a NAND or reflashing the rom (you shouldn't need to wipe data, just dalvik and cace).

Yeah I'd definitely reflash the rom. I'll try to remember to check back later and see if you've given us an update on your phone's status.

It doesn't look like the dirty flash option is going to work. I just tried it and it's stuck at the Sprint logo. Not a boot loop...I've had those before, this is just stuck at the white Sprint screen with the logo. Going to give it a few more minutes just to make sure, but I think I'm going to have to do a factory wipe and reflash. Dang it...this is just one more argument for iPhones, this never happens with those and I just need my freakin phone back...it's Friday afternoon!! :)

I never choose the "dirty" flash option you speak of. I always just wipe everything then do a clean flash. If you want to simplify things, do a clean flash and set everything up and then before you even use the phone do a fresh nandroid of everything except the cache's and then next time you have problems you can wipe and restore and be right back where you started from.

Corruption can come from many sources including from something the flashee did while he was doing it. It's really a small price to pay to have so much more power, flexibiltiy and options than an iphone. It's just something you have to deal with if you're running a custom rom.

Maybe you should run something different. Have you tried the latest warm rom from Myn yet?

My guess is this is a kernel issue, especially if you rooted via HTC's method. Perhaps you flashed a ROM and didn't replace the kernel, and the kernel and ROM aren't playing nicely....

Kernel needs to be flashed separately after you flash a ROM (if you're rooted via HTC method). Try flashing a kernel that's made for your ROM and see if that fixes things.
