Root [CDMA] need stock ROM trying to troubleshoot something...

Ok So latley my phone has been killing battery power like crazy and i cant seem to find out why. I have switched to multiple ROMS and the problem persists. The phone also gets VERY hot while in use and not just the normal hot like HOLY CRAP THATS FREAKIN HOT! hot. If anyone can get me a link to a completly stock Evo 3D rom that would help tremendously. And as for the battery life i will unlock the phone and serf the web for maby 5-10 mins and it drops from (for example) 91% battery to 80%. I have tried to reset the batter casch and still the same things and as said before iv changed roms and kernels. It will also go through almost a full charge over night while im sleeping while i have everything including the data turned off. Any insight would help! Thanks guys!

I moved your post to the rooted section

I also don't think flashing back a stock Rom will help find your issues and that will have more bloatware and most like use your battery more. What Roms have you tried, how did you root, are you S-On or OFF, Also what apps do you have installed could be an app running in the background. There could be many factors, give us as much info as you can for us to properly trouble shoot your issue.

ok i am S-OFF the method i used was the very first lol I cant remember exaclty its been a while. But iv used the latest cm10 ROM mean rom mikg rom and i think two other i cant remember off the top of my head oh and stock obviously. Currently i only have facbook, wellsfargo, great clips, and pap johns apps installed nothing else. And iv tried force closing it all and still same situation.

And the other reason i wanted the stock ROM is so i can take it into the sprint store if i have to and make it seem its not messed with in. just in case lol

ok thanks for the link ill try and put that on here and see if anything changes. The other question is should i do the full wipe to stock/factory reset if this doesnt work? At least before i take it in to sprint and start trying to see if there is hardware problems.

You should probably do a full wipe before flashing. Sounds like you don't have a lot of stuff to lose on your phone. Just beware that if they care to check at the sprint store, they can still tell you are rooted. Your phone will still say s-off and you will have super user on your phone.

If you want to be fully stock for repairs you will have to run an ruu and then turn your phone to s-on.... This unfortunately means you'd have to re-root though but it will protect you from voided warranty.

yeah im not too worried about loosing anything on the phone iv recently gone through so many roms that it really doesnt matter lol. But, would you have a link to the RUU just in case i have to do it? I dont mind re-rooting later because if this phones hardware turns out to be dieing then im gunna try and get a new phone out of it.

S-off might be a concern if taking the phone in. With luck, maybe they'll just give you a replacement and not care about the background on the phone. I know you talked about turning off mobile network, but do you run 4g a lot?

i actually rarely use 4g its almost always off. That was another thing i checked as well.

ok weird thing. I installed th Rom from the link above and all i got was boot loops. Went into bootloader wiped casch + dalvic and same thing. Went back did another factory reset/ wipe same thing...Got modified superwipe ran it reinstalled the rom and same thing...then re-installed the CM10 Rom i was using before started up perfect first try...what in the world??? Im thinking about doing the RUU if someone could point me in the right direction because i dont really use any of the root "features" right now due to me trying to figure out whats going on with this thing lol so rooting later is no problem

What hboot is your phone? I was assuming 1.58 but since you got bootloops I'm wondering if you are 1.5. If that's the case you'll need the gb stock rom in just assumed you were ics.

If you want to unroot here are the ruu's...

Ics ruu

Gb ruu

It doesn't really matter which one you run. If you are gb base and hboot 1.5 running the ics ruu will update you to stock ics.

Likewise the gb ruu will downgrade you to stock gb if you are already ics.

Also if you are hboot 1.5 and want to try the stock rom before unrooting or running ruu here is the gb stock rom.

If you run an ruu you will be completely stock but will still be s-off.

If you want to return to s-on you would have to use fastboot command fastboot oem writesecureflag 3

Be warned that the ruu will update your hboot. So if you go that route and return your phone to s-on there won't be a one click root method if you decide to root again.

It's not that big of a deal, it's still possible to gain s-off again but I want you to be aware.

ok as an update i reverted the phone back to stock. Did half of the process didnt make it S-ON again but it is on the stock rom. Heat got better but still gets a little hot and battery life changed a bit but once again not as good as it used to be. I did let it go for a day or two just to be safe so at this point should make it S-ON and take it into the store and see what they can find?

It's totally up to you if you want to return it... If you do return it I would get s-on again before taking it in... Have you tried any battery or disk use apps to pinpoint what's using it up? Could be a bad app or something. Another route you can go is to get on amazon and order a 3500MAH extended battery. I've never had what I would consider "great" battery life on my 3vo. Even when unrooted my battery would overheat at times (namely when playing a cpu intensive game and charging at the same time).

I didn't notice any worse battery life after rooting. I do now that I am using an overclocked rom.. That eats up the battery quick. Have you done any overclocking on your phone?

I did overclock it once but not for long. And as for the battery apps iv used a few different ones currently im using juice defender. Iv also underclocked the processor to see if there was any change but nothing. I did consider getting the 3500MAH battery but im kinda broke unless is dirt cheap lol

Just doing a quick Google Search I see one for $6.49 with $2 shipping... I can't vouch for it as I've never used it. It would probably be a good idea to read some reviews before going that route just to make sure it's not a bad you get what you pay for sort of deal... Then it looks like there's some on amazon ranging from 11-14 bucks...

Have you tried any roms or kernals that focus on battery life?
