Will this affect rooting?

HTC EVO 3D Software Update - 2.08.651.3

Enhancements/Fixes
- Security Update

Important Notes:
- The new software version is: 2.08.651.3.
- The customer may initiate the update beginning 10/25 or wait until notifications begin being sent to devices on 10/27.
- Refer to the HTC EVO 3D Software Updates blog for install instructions.
- Updates may be released in stages. When checking for the update, you may receive a message that no update is available, check back later or wait until the update notification is sent to your device.
 
I believe that is an old update I could be wrong, I am sure others will chime it, but if you plan to root as Jerofld mentioned, I would not update to be safe, and if your lucky and not on HBoot 1.50 then your life for rooting got much easier.

yep that is an old update

and like evryone said DO NOT ACCEPT AN OTA while you are rooted. it could do some really bad things to your phone.

it could unroot you and update your hboot which will close the exploit used. and this goes for any rooted phone. but luckily for us, htc has given us the ability to unlock the bootloader. but, it makes things more difficult.
