Root [CDMA] Ready for a simple custom rom, suggestions?

I am ready to put a custom rom on my 3D now. Ive been hesitant because I dont want to brick my phone and be stuck with nothing. I have HBOOT 1.5, ive used the HTCDEV method of unlock and added the TWRP recovery image. Suggestions?

PS- Kernel 2.6.35.13
android version 2.3.4
software 2.08.651.2
HBOOT 1.50

Meanrom is probably the best and fastest out right now.imo. Close to stock but you can customize if you want. There is also cleanrom which is a stock look and feel.

You won't brick your phone by flashing ROMs, but you can if you start messing around with the radio bits. In any event, like the person above mentioned - MeanROM and CleanROM are great starts if you want simple ROMs with minimal alterations (aside of some slight performance tweaks).

btw, can I use meanROM 1.7 with my current software configuration without having to relock and ota, etc. etc. or can I get around fine with a wipe and flash?

Clean ROM is good i also tried freEVO 3d 2.3 thats one is decent to what i like about it is that everything works on it...

Then you can't use a lot of ROMs. Most ROMs are now based of off the 2.17.651.5, which require the new firmware.

I'd recommend you pick ROMs where they have some older versions still posted. ViperROM has some older ones. freEVO 2.2 is 651.3 based and should work for you.

Or you can relock and flash the RUU to get the new software. Some people have issues with relocking and taking the OTA.

A couple weeks ago I relocked and used the latest RUU to update to the newest base...it really wasn't that big of a deal at all (I even had the unlock token saved on the SD card still). Basically, I'd recommend updating and then using a newer rom (Viper being my flavor of choice as I previous stated).
