Root [CDMA] root before before flashing evo3d to boost?

Hello, I plan on flashing my Sprint Evo 3d to boost mobile. I'd also like to root it and install a custom rom. Can anyone tell me if the order in which i do any this matters? I've done rooting and flashed cm7 on my HTC hero on sprint, but flashing the evo 3d to work for boost is new to me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i could be wrong but, i think that you need to be rooted to flash to boost. never done it so i could be completely wrong on that. check your hboot as well, if it is hboot 1.5 then it might be harder for you as well, especially if you are going to flash roms and kernels.

Thanks, that's a start. I can't wait for this Evo3d to get here so i can start poking around lol

I don't believe you have to be rooted. CDMA workshop will change configurations on your phone even if SuperUser is not installed.

Just keep in mind that it's not something that you can just download, click install zip, and wait for your phone to be good to go on Boost. You will have to modify settings and have some information before you start. I don't know exactly what, though, I just remember a thread from a Droid X forum where someone showed how to move the DX from VZW to Cricket.

Yea i found a pretty helpful video on YouTube from flashedphones that is pretty explanatory. I just need to download all of the programs that he uses.
