Root [CDMA] Rooted Evo3D Can't Change Alarm Sound

Hi All,

I have rooted my evo3d with Zred Rom. Everything works great but the default alarm sound is horrible and frequently makes me annoyed at 6am before work so I googled a bit and found zedge.

Unfortunately alarm sound is not changing with zedge at all - tried several times, apply it to alarm sound, no go, default sticks.

Furthermore I explored the sd card with file explorer - found "alarms" on the card, stuck the downloaded zedge sound there and still nothing - even rebooted.

Also found "Music" folder, for the hell of it I stuck the file there also, still nothing.


Any help appreciated.
 
I will move this to the Rooted section, I am not familiar with this Rom, unless you mean Zred Rom ?? so hopefully someone will be able to help
 
Strange, I think that it's something in the rom because on a different rom it works perfectly after I pick a notification sound in Zedge, it's instantly set as the default alarm sound and also shows up in the list of notifications available. :confused:

I'm not familiar with that rom or zedge... But can you not just change the alarm sound in the default settings? On any rom (stock or otherwise) I have always been able to choose from any of the notifications/ringtones included in that rom for my alarm sound without any special apps or anything else...
 
ah, my mistake it is ZR3D, I love this ROM, tried quite a few other ones that didn't quite work like I wanted....would hate to abandon it because I can't set an alarm sound :-/
 
Zedge is just an app front end to free content, ringtones, alarm sounds and wallpapers. He should be able to choose from the list of notification sounds, but like I posted, when I downloaded Zedge and picked a sound to download it gives you the option to set it, went into my stock alarm clock and there it is, default in the notification sound list. Strange behavior, I haven't run ZR3D in quite awhile but I don't recall having this problem.

Odd. I just booted into zred gt and i could change alarm sounds.

Click on the sense clock. Go into alarm section. Click alarm sound and there I can choose from music ring tones and alarm sounds....
 
I think he is on the newer version of Zred

Yes I'm sure, but I had that already dual booted and wanted to see stock settings.
Just wanted him to see if he could change it that way if he hadn't tried or missed it somehow.

Didn't you use ZR3D for a long time? You had no issues right?

Also to the op, did you do a clean install? (Format all partitions except sd card)

Okay so I went into sense clock widget and I didn't see anything about setting alarm sound.I have

"Use 24 hour format"
"Weather Settings"
"Refresh Settings"
"LP Sense Clock Widget Info"

As for a fresh install, no, I would prefer tracking down the issue rather than start anew. What I notice is when I download a sound and set it as alarm it doesn't get placed in "Alarm" folder, nor "notification" only in Ringtones (not sure if this is normal)

I figured that you would have gone into the alarm tab on the clock, considering that's what the thread is about. So goto the stock clock, click on the alarm tab and see what is listed, especially the file from zedge that you applied.

/me feels like an idiot. I can change sound there just fine, that's good enough. Zedge sounds are there, no clue why they aren't setting but oh well, at least I can get them and set them manually
