Root [CDMA] S-OFF Trouble

I have been stuck with using Gingerbread ROMs because I need S-OFF to get ICS. I have tried to do the wire trick, but the program Controlbear keeps telling me to install drivers. I have no clue what it is talking about. A couple of times, it has gotten past that and said it failed to do a backup. Again, I have no clue what to do. Please help If you can.

I've never tried to s off and I'm on ics but my only guess you don't have HTC drivers installed

GO to HTC"s website .
Drivers are there. Install them on your Computer - not your phone.

I too, am running ICS (d3rp) and S-ON. I just used jerofld's guide and had no problem. Since you're already rooted, I've read 4EXT recovery works for most with S-ON, but I haven't gotten quite that far yet.

You're doing something wrong because I'm s-on 1.5 and I've run gingerbread, ICS, and jelly bean; and they all work.

Just make sure you have S-ON check marked on 4EXT
